One time I had three shoes.

Only Mr. Henry would go the extra step and place scuff marks under the swings.

Had a Rose in Trig class. Teacher graded on the curve. She aced the tests. She was not very popular in that class.

Wallace: “Or, we could build a skin-melter ray!”

Don’t try to change yourself. You are perfect just the way you are, as are Wallace and Spud. However, Wallace’s Monster Brother could use a little tweaking…..

Childhood moments like this feel so far away, especially when my childhood was devoid or free from friends asking me (or me asking them) if other kids liked me. I wonder if other foreign-born readers can relate.
