Here’s a dichotomy for you Lennie. My wife is a fellow Berklee grad like you, who studied voice and is now a practicing Music Therapist for the past 15+ years…and every Sunday in the fall, she’s on the couch screaming at the TV watching while I (a military veteran, pro wrestling fan, lover of theatre and classical music, and a professional photographer) make her snacks, since I couldn’t care less about football :D
Lennie, you went too far with your Elvis reference. you don’t understand football fans. I get it. I don’t understand music fans, people who will spend thousands to see some musician in person (not your band, of course.) All humans want to be part of a tribe. You found your tribes in the art and music world. I grew up playing football and other sports. I also played violin in the orchestra. Going to college in Nebraska, I was amazed that the whole state shut down on Saturday in the Fall to watch the Big Red Machine, Nebraska Cornhuskers. I moved to the SF Bay area when the Raiders were just starting. Everyone at work was rabid Raiders fans. I joined that tribe until they became the LA Traitors! And now the LV Traitors. I now root for them to lose.
But, then, I’d love to find a Dogs Playing Poker ‘original’ :0 painting. I don’t recall if they were on velvet. A Man Cave staple. Artfully lit by a standing popcorn machine on one side and a Juke Box loaded with vinyl across the room. (No mirror balls please)

I never understood why anyone would want to paint any picture on velvet. ‘To each his own’, and ‘art is in the eye of the beholder’, I guess.

I have no doubt they are completely sincere.
