Well, there actually are quite a few more modern ghost stories, if you look into it. First ones that easily come to mind are “Ghost” and “Sixth Sense”. I think the kids would like those.
About 25 years ago, a customer died in the restaurant I worked in while eating his soup…one moment slurp, the next moment, splut, face first into his soup. Afterwards, we kept experiencing odd things in the restaurant…our cooler door would often open when no one was around, or we would lay down a knife or kitchen utensil, and when we reached for it again, it would be a foot or two away. One day, I was the only person in the restaurant, before we opened, getting things turned on and ready, and I thought I heard the back door open and someone walk around to the employee bathroom, but no one was there. I looked outside, no other car in the lot and the bathrooms were empty.
