I am having a total brain fart here. I know Gordo and his bro’s names have musical roots, but where does “Guy” come from? Also, Gordo’s just a nickname, right? What is his actual name? Can’t think right now….
Disappointed in Barrows for this strip, because it seems very clear from the way it’s worded that she’s never read The Boondocks at all. What’s the comment even supposed to mean? Is he implying that those “guys” would beat him up? Who in the strip would do that, exactly? Not Huey. Not Grandad. Riley MIGHT——IF he weren’t half Gordo’s size!
I think all Barrows cared to know about the strip was that everyone in it looked angry all the time. Doesn’t make this work. At all. Sorry.
Dear JLG, disagree, I can hear Huey mocking parents who would give their child a name like “Oklahoma.” In fact I could imagine Huey writing the two last chapters of “Freakonomics.”

Still, I can’t see it used today. What do ya call her for short, Okie? Oak? Homa….hehe. Good point, though, Night-G!
