This was just one of the many typically angry utterances of Dr. Leonard McCoy aka Bones played by actor DeForest Kelley as Chief Medical Officer on The U.S.S. Enterprise in the TV show ‘Star Trek’.
He spoke many variations of it over the three-year run of the show that have become entrenched in popular culture. Ironically the most quoted of them, “D a m n it, Jim, I’m a doctor not a …”, was never actually spoken with the explicative but it sounds so much better with it.
