The problem with today’s installment of this comic strip is that, if you don’t sleep on the sofa or use the word “nought”, you won’t understand the joke.

I don’t sleep on the sofa, I say “zero” instead of “nought”, and I didn’t comprehend the alleged humor portrayed in this comic strip.

    Thank you.

    pdino:

You forgot to begin your message with “Greetings:”.

On the other hand, I do nap on the sofa, I do include the word, “nought”, in my vocabulary, and I understood today’s joke.

But, yesterday’s joke went over my head.

When a joke has to be explained, it just kills the humor, don’t you think?

    Thank you.

Well, why don’t we all petition Mahoney and Kettle to check with each and every one of us to make sure that they never do a strip that goes over the head of everyone here who has complained about not getting it.

I understood it fine even if I never use the word nought. She comes back 4 seconds later to retrieve the umbrella and he’s already asleep. What a bum!

It’s like saying a car can get from 0 to 60mph in 6.3 seconds. He goes from 0 to unconcious in 1.4 seconds.

Keep in mind that this strip is based in the UK, not the US.

People who don’t know the word nought may recognize naught, but I doubt it. At any rate, look it up, but don’t show your ignorance.

If I don’t get one…I generally prefer to just keep my mouth shut just in case everybody else did!

Yes, we must petition the authors to give this Northern-English strip an American accent…
