I often consider the details of a cartoon. Is the gag the best it can be? Does it even work at all? It’s just a habit as a writer and visual designer. In this case, a whisk broom and a dustpan would seem better. For some reason…maybe because of the spillage, this makes me think he is still mad about the fishing excursion. He needs to relax on the sofa, with Fred next to him!
Maybe he was trying to copy the highly skilled restaurant workers who can carry four sets of used dishes plus glasses and cutlery back to the dishwashing station.
