165 years? That’s a lot of cold showers! And what did basselopes like to eat before there were PopTarts?

Don’t sign with Milo, Rosebud. Steve will get you more PopTarts.

@ pvroman3 and MrSulusBrainYup, Rosebud is female but – sort of – posing as a male right now…

Yes, but we don’t find that out until much later in the strip. Or at least the author hasn’t thought of it yet.

With a name like ‘Rosebud’ I’d hope it was a female!

Bloom County is a male enclave. Females are a plot confusion device.

Rosebud was “outed” later in the strip.

Males can have the name Rosebud. After all, basselopes eat Pop Tarts, which have extra irony.

I think Ginrummy33 is right – is it possible that the author intended Rosebud to be male at first but changed his mind, later in the strip, as his own way to answer those who claimed that Bloom County looked too much like a male enclave?

Rosebud the dying Citizen Kane’s last words. It was the trade name of the very young Citizen Kane’s sled, and purportedly represented the simple life he lived then and missed so much later.
