I have an extensive butterfly garden at my house in SoCal. I severely prune all the nectar sources and milkweed in October; nevertheless, a few late migraters lingered and laid eggs throughout the fall and early winter in spite of my repeatedly warning them that there was nothing to eat here and to fly south to Mexico. They never listen and their poor caterpillars hatched out into one of the wettest winters in decades. It’s warming up now and my nectar sources are starting to bloom, and the milkweed is putting out new leaves, so I’m ready to welcome the more sensible migraters back from Mexico. Summer around my house is always a riot of butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds … Hammy would love it here!
I read a recent study that the migratory monarchs are having trouble with reduced habitat, but there are pockets where they thrive without the need to migrate.

I hope Hammy doesn’t want to go for a flight. He might get pulled over for FUI.

They must have started life as the worm at the bottom of the bottle.

If it wasn’t for “HIC” in first panel I would’ve guessed fried from running away from bad elements killing the tourist industry.

Tequila! I always wondered why monarch butterflies went to Mexico.

One of them was the mescal worm.

Personal opinion, Tequila is just about the worst tasting alcohol there is.

Since they’re monarchs, perhaps they drank Corona.
