As a former Revolutionary war reenactor, this is completely correct. I have friends who were more in to reenacting than I, and they actually had a rope bed. This is also where “feather beds” came into use.

Rope beds are real, but the suggestion that “sleep tight” has anything to do with them is a re-enactors’ myth.
