This comic strikes a familiar note. As a born-and-bred Yankee, I can verify that we had little but disdain for things “southern”. Now, having lived for many years in the Midwest, my attitudes have changed some. Still, there are “southern-cultured” parts of my state that tend to be looked down on.

What “southern” accent is that, South Moscow?

This kind of New York attitude is why my Florida-born-and-raised self learned to be annoyed by snotty snowbirds from a young age.
