It’s kind of like bacon made into a salami. It’s great for outdoor cooking, because it doesn’t produce grease like bacon.+++++I like your new avatar LS. I’m glad you went back to the cute anime pics. The others were nice, but were kind of melancholy
I had to go back to the former avatar, since Yellow Pig Day is July 17 (=7/17, 17 being “the random prime”. Don’t ask unless you really, really want to know. . . .).
OK, I’m confused. Can more than one avatar be assigned? LS’s avatar seems to be switching between her dark hair yellow eyed girl to a red headed anime girl. I haven’t noticed any other tribe member’s do any switching. Is this a new feature or is LS working some of her gocomics magic?
Hi Thunderdog – *bmonk*’s is also changing. bmonk – Not having the Edit button is part of the new standards GoComic is starting to use. You can now Reply to a comment (as if that button is needed). If a reply was made to a comment and then that comment was edited then the reply might not make sense. Therfore, the Edit button is no longer used. Of course, if you delete your comment and someone replyed to it then the reply still wouldn’t make sense. Also, when you reply to a comment how do you know which comment they were replying to anyway. I think the new standard for web page comments is a work in progress. Technically when you reply to a comment the reply is nested to that comment. Isn’t tecknowlely great!
And see, then that happens. I have to delete a post but you’ve already seen it and replied and now your reply comes before my initial post, and it’s all just too confusing!
@ LadyhawkI find that, if I really need to reply, and it fails, a reload screen (plus “load the rest of the comments”) usually works. If I don’t mind waiting. . . .Strange: once when I posted that comment, i was as a reply to Ladyhawk.
That’s what I do and wish the Edit button was there. Maybe someday Nested replys will go under the comment (but then you might not see the reply). I think the standards are continuing to change (be made up).
Yes—after last night’s thunderstorm—which seems to have passed through sometime long after midnight—it is getting toasty out there today. And worse for the weekend. 90s, with heat index peaking over 100. And no hint of thuderboomers until Tues or so—which will bring it down to the upper 80s.
bmonk – It was only 85° at 9:30 this morning. It’s now 103° so far. It did reach 100° yesterday despite being cooler most of the day due to an overcast until late afternoon. Next 7 day forcast to be in the 100°s with no rain.
Looks like Sojo & I were both looking up our weather at the same time. Since we’re about 50 miles apart, there’s not a whole lot of difference most of the time.
tribe! I miss “edit”, not that I ever make mistakes that I don’t catch till after I push "submit, but because I MIGHT forget something important like highlighting the name of someone in the TRIBE. It is a little difficult to rewrite my entire comment (they’re thoughtful, not long winded) just to put in some punctuation. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Ladyhawk – That would be nice but the new standards that are being developed are for all web pages and go beyond GoComics. Being unable to delete your comment if it had a reply or better yet deleting all replys to your comment if you deleated it may be in the future as they make up the standards. I guess it’s something we’ll have to live with.
Sojo – don’t we all :→ I have the same difficulties with email and texting. It’s not like having the face and tone to help. Actually I believe the words only make up about 12% of what we get out of face to face conversations.
I just finished watching the first 8 episodes of The Bob Newhart Show. I love that show. One of the episodes brought up fear of flying, which in passing brought up fear of elevators. That hit home because I worked with a woman – close to retirement at the time – who was afraid of elevators. My co-workers in the mailroom laughed at her (Behind her back). I felt sorry for her. She worked on the 24th floor of our building, but I’d often see her when I was leaving from the 22nd floor by the freight elevator, knowing that we had to take the mail bags down to the basement. The freight elevator was the only elevator that stopped at every floor. When I got on the elevator with her, she’d never stop talking (taking her mind off the ride) How are you Mr. So and so. How are you Mr. so and so. She was respectfull of us lowly mailboys, even when most every one else treated us like lowly pond scum. At any rate, though she is now long gone, you gotta respect someone who has to face the same fear, day in and day out for every work day of their life.
Another episode dealt with watching football on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I think I can relate to that, but now there’s also Thursday night games. Emily must be really pleased with that. The only think that can keep me from watching NFL games is not liking the matchup, which is even possible during the Superbowl. I’d really hate to see a subway-Superbowl. It’s easier for me to skip college games unless the matchup appears not to be too one-sided.
The dog we had was 100+, and it was bad enough trying to keep up with him where the hills are shorter than I am. Other than when I was trying to train him for an “invisible fence”, we didn’t bother walking him with a leash, since there’s no leash law out here in the boonies.
Hi, Rmom. I haven’t seen the show in reruns for many years. Yet you can get an overdose of Rosanne and _The Nanny, which weren’t half as good as Newhart or Mary Tyler Moore.
