There’s a sport for everyone. You know, that “diversity” thing that’s loathed by the chosen ones.

German culture has six interesting words (das Geschenk, die Gabe, die Schenkung, die Begabung, die Spende, and das Präsent) to express various types of giving.

die Begabung means the possession of a natural talent, such as being gifted at music, the arts, sports, etc. And athletic ability is recognized as a form of intelligence, similar to IQ, Clerical, Arithmetic, Pattern Analysis, etc.

Athleticism however, is only measurable by actual performance, combined with years of specialized training . The least we can do is appreciate the gifted – unless those gifts are augmented by pharmaceutical means. That’s where the politicization of Sports rears its ugly head, especially in the Olympics.

One more thought, there is cunning Machiavellian intelligence required for the successful grifters, con artists, carny barkers, Televangelists, bible-thumpers, and hedge fund managers,

After all, that’s the twisted personality trait the worshippers of Mammon and MAGA supporters adore so much. It’s a personality trait denoting evil cunningness, the ability to be devious and manipulative, and an unrelenting, fanatical drive to use whatever means necessary to gain power. It’s also just one of the three negative traits of psychology that forms the Dark Triad, along with narcissism and psychopathy.

And guess who pegs the needle on that Dark Triad?

And it’s become a sleazy spectator sport, with the fate of the country and the world dependent on its outcome.

And hockey has two more months and pro basketball ends around July 4th, right?
