Parahound looks like a theater that will not only permit dogs, but that will welcome them with open doors. The owners had better be on their best behavior, though. More than one owner has been asked to leave because their basset couldn’t control them.

Almost as boring a day as ten years into the future.

Movie night with the Cllords should prove to be more exciting.

Six comments from the 2009 Ballard Street Fan Club! I think Marge is about to apply some momentum to Ted’s posterior.

    Hi, everybody… I made it!

Looks like I get to join you in commenting on

the April 9th  2019 “CLEO and COMPANY”

An amazing new work from StelBel…. on Sherpa

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

    Wow… what a nice theater.

Must be an old one, beautifully restored.

Usually, I don’t like it when these erstwhile movie palaces are chopped up into several screens….

but the economics realities of running a theater today, with competition from video and other forms of entertainment,

demand showing more than one film at a time, and even then, profits are scarce.

I think the basset cinema is doing better, overall, than its human counterpart, though.

Basset theaters can enjoy the luxury of running festivals and marathons, while humans-only venues struggle to keep up with audiences who only want first-run films.

But look…. here’s a chance to enjoy Audrey Hepbasset, from her early days to her prime, in luxurious surroundings,

    with Surround-Howl, and snacks.

I wonder how the kibblecorn compares with what we get at our local BassetPlexII….

a nice theater, to be sure… but much more modern and stark.

Might have better technology…. but not the same glorious ambience.

Anybody want to come with me to Cleveland for a couple of days, just to catch “My Fair Basset” and “Biscuits at Tiffany’s”?

We can also take in a few of the sights, like the Rock ’N Roll Hall of Fame.

Thanks everybody, for your concern about my internet access.

It’s working right now, obviously…. but it’s been intermittent.

Another repair person is coming Wednesday.

    Nighthawks… Thanks… but it’s not my ISP’s fault.

AT&T (ie “THE phone company”) has owned all the wiring, since the days when it was a total monopoly.

Whoever else I buy service from actually rents and resells access over those old, copper lines that haven’t been upgraded in at least half a century, because I live in the mostly commercial, sparsely populated outskirts of town.

Newer developments get the fancy stuff, like fiber internet… but we don’t have enough subscribers.

I could get cable internet but it’s very expensive .

Or I could pay AT&T directly, about twice what I pay now, for phone and DSL… and FAR worse customer service…

Instead, i buy those cheaper from my local ISP, including unlimited internet and long distance, plus call waiting and voicemail.

But when there’s a problem, they have to call AT&T first to check the outside lines, cos they can’t touch them..

AT&T had an appointment with me for someone to check the box outside, but nobody showed up.

Still… they say it’s fixed… so now an ISP tech can come here and hopefully figure out what’s wrong.

Gosh! What a terrific ‘toon today! Stel, you (and Nighthawks?) outdid yourselves yet again!!!! That’s just the film festival for us! I can’t think of any other actress than Audrey Hepbasset that I enjoy watching. Such poise, such glamor, and command of the English language. What a treat!

I give this festival 6 paws up!
