    That’s weird. I filled a glass with really cold water and put it on my bedstand last night. This morning it was tepid, at best.

    You can cook in cold water. The tongue in cheek question asked of newcomers is “How do you cook in cold water (Cold Water)?” “Drive to the community Cold Water (Kentucky).”

    It’s generally recommended to cook with cold water because the hot can have contaminants picked up from the water heater.

    I’m guessing that the idea is that warm(ed) water is more hospitable to microbiota, though of course if you’re cooking with it that shouldn’t be a problem. (And it would be an idle worry in any case.)
