Make it 20 percent and I’ll leave and not bother you again—for now.

Yes tipping has become a pain. If it’s a full service restaurant and the server was attentive and did their job I give them 20% if it was so so service 15% and crappy service gets little or zero.

Self serve or fast food restaurant help shouldn’t be tipped because they’re just doing their normal job and I’m doing most of the work anyway. And besides they recently raised the minimum wage in most places to like $15.00 per hour ???? for handing out fast food. Not bad for that type of job.

I’m with her on this one.

They should also pay us, when we use the self checkouts at the store!

I’m conflicted about eating in restaurants that are wildly expensive, don’t pay their employees minimum wage ‘cause we’re expected to tip heavily, after they’ve adding 18% to the check for a gratuity before they bring it to us… and threaten that if they have to pay their employees minimum wage or more that the restaurant industry would break down entirely.

If my kids were acting like that (more than they do), I’d think I hadn’t done a good enough job teaching them what the world is.

Hey, that makes all kinds of sense! And cents.

As I said in another comic, I don’t tip if I am standing to get my food.

How about a quid quo pro: I’ll tip you if you tip me.

The tip culture is out of control. Tips were to make up for the terrible waiter/waitress salary, not supplement someone who’s getting a real (albeit low) paycheck. And I avoid restaurants where the waitstaff has to share their tips with the cook, etc..

there were actually nutcases who were trying to promote tipping here in tip-free japan as a means of “boosting service industry employees’ self esteem.” for whatever reason (rolling my eyes as i type this), the project never got off the ground… ☺
