I live in the middle of a population 70,000 SoCal suburban city. Yesterday I looked out my back door and saw a scurry of 5-6 adolescent squirrels living up to their collective noun. They were so adorable, I just stood there watching them, even though I had a morning’s worth of projects to get started on. Middle of town or not, my backyard is something of a wildlife sanctuary—squirrels, bunnies, racoons, possums, and a whole lot of lizards, plus the usual complement of birds, including an owl.

The squirrel’s name must be “Jack”; he sure is nimble!

Perhaps the squirrel is in the house because most of them are nuts.
