I knew someone who worked at a pet grooming place that said the trick to bathing a cat was to have a screen on top of the tub, put the cat on the screen, pour a bucket of cold water on the cat, and then you could start scrubbing away because the claws were hooked into the screen.
Unless a cat gets covered with some chemical that could cause significant harm or death, there is never a reason to wash them and every reason NOT to.Their coat is coated in oils from their saliva that help to protect them. Bathing will wash this off and it can take the cat several days to get it back to where it belongs.
I have had cats my whole life and never bathed one even once.

Short haired cats rarely need a full bath.

You don’t need to give a cat a bath. They are self-cleaning. Sorta like ovens.

Never had a problem with bathing a dog, they love it. Washing a cat? Why, they don’t do anything.

Some cats love being bathed. All that scrubbing is just petting and the stay warm.
