For Better or For Worse by Lynn Johnston for September 23, 2008

Transcript:
Elly: How's she doing? John: I dunno... not much is going in. Elly: Let her feed herself, John. Just give her the bowl and let her try. Elizabeth: Glah! Ya-gah! Gah-gah-gah! John: I think she takes nourishment through osmosis.
Am I the only one who’s underwhelmed by this new concept? Seems like, if you take the soap opera aspects of the strip out, what’s left is really flat, and stale. Sorry, Lynn.
My kids are 20 and 14 now, and I still VIVIDLY remember trying to feed them spoonful by spoonful, or letting them do it themselves and make a gooey mess! I think Lynn is doing a very good job depicting young parents’ real life struggles and I hope lots of real young parents get to read FBFW and relate!
In the real life, that are the way the babies do! lols! Yeah, it is the pain in the butt to see the babies making mess all over their heads, mouths, faces, and on their bibs. You guys should take the pictures of them with messy all over their faces. Wink!
I enjoyed Lynn’s later, more “realistic” (wasn’t that realistic) style. Liked the polish. But we all have different tastes. My kids are grown, and these strips do reflect my own experiences and feel right. But…something is missing for me. If there’s not going to be a story line, I guess I would prefer a strip with a little more bite to it – some edginess. It’s her strip though, and we don’t have to read it if we lose interest.
Get a life, whiners. I’m happy to be able to see what I missed during all of the years I was working my butt off, not wasting time reading the newspaper. If you are not, then go find something else to do. Or draw your own. And thanks, Lynn.
I’m with you e.z.louie.
I missed half of the start of this strip and really enjoy it. If the oldsters don’t like the new way Lynnis drawing the strip or ‘no plot or story line’, then please, stop reading this strip and adding your comments about this subject since she can’t please everybody.
“Whiners” is an uncalled-for comment. Most of us seem to agree thatr we have come to terms with whatever does or doesn’t resonate with us. I have the greatest respect for Lynn Johnston. She created a world that has meant a great deal to many of us, and as far as I’m concerned still does. But not all of us are going to follow the new path with her. it’s no more and no less than that.

I am missing the grown up story line too. Too bad we don’t get to see April get her vet degree, or Liz and Anthony’s baby, all that stuff. Waaahhhh!

Considering everything she’s been through, I’m willing to give her some time to find and strengthen the voice she’s looking for.
