People think they are important – but drop dead and your job is filled next day. I got friends who are Pastors in their 80’s who trudge on thinking their Church rely on them. Nope. It’s on Jesus Christ. What do they think the Church has lasted 2000 years without them for? Drop dead and that pulpit has someone standing there Sunday morning. Old and sick and thinking sick also. Move over. You’re driving 35 in a 65. Feeling important is a pride thing and pride is a sin.
We had a janitor at work who always had a gallon of water with him that he drank from all night (AM shift) but every couple of days there would be an empty bottle of Vodka that went out with the trash that someone pointed out so management had Loss Prevention sneak in before he got to work. Yup he was refilling that jug with the Vodka lol

It’s especially true in nursing. They lay a real guilt trip if you take time off, even if it’s because you’re sick.

my saying at work is “no day off goes unpunished”. whether it is vacation or sick time, it usually takes a couple of days to catch back up.

I see she has coffee on her cup, that’s probably to divert peoples attention to what’s really in the cup.
