If I could cut a straight line, I’d cut my own slices too. Seems to me that mass market bakeries are missing out on another revenue stream: thick sliced bread. I’d buy it.

Theoretically this is like saying you can’t live in the same moment twice. But… if the water was frozen… like snow… I know plenty of people who would like to stomp on it more than twice. They would even take pictures – so they can enjoy reliving it.

Same here, I slice mine at 15mm thickness. The wife prefers 11. Shops’ machines are 7 or 9.

I knew a baker who invented a knife that would cut 4 loaves at once.
It was a 4 loaf cleaver.
