When I was in ninth or tenth grade Biology we learned about evolution. At the end of the unit, my teacher muttered something like, “I’m also supposed to tell you able how all life was created by one being, but I’m not going to do that.” And that was it for the Bible’s version. This was before the phrase “Intelligent Design” was coined.
I grew up in a Christian family, I know God created all things, He did it in 6 real days, and that evolution is just a theory. I learned enough in Biology class to pass the tests, and never argue in class with the teacher about it. There are plenty of scientists out there who believe in God, who believe that the “carbon dating” is wrong and that science can actually prove what the Bible says. And with the internet these days, they can publish and record their findings very easily.
There are NO “facts.” There are just theories with varying levels of support.
Evolution is a theory. That doesn’t mean it is conjecture. It means that it is a very well-tested hypothesis explaining the available observations.
Natural selection is a theory that explains another, evolution. Again, it is extremely well-supported.
But ALL theories are open to new interpretations as more information is uncovered. What we thought was a “fact” in the past might become disproved in the future. Gravity is a good example of this. Newton explained it with his theory, but that got challenged at relativistic speeds and at the quantum level. So, updates to the theory were needed.
Another theory that has held up well is the Big Bang. But recent observations have suggested other possibilities. Not enough to discard the Big Bang, but we remain open to it. (We might even return to a modification of the Solid State theory, but I personally doubt that.)
Religion is not even a theory because it doesn’t even attempt to reconcile itself with observations. It simply asks that you take things on faith, or that you accept them metaphorically, neither of which is subjectable to scientific examination.

Sadly it does answer her question. I guess the moon landing is out too along with the earth not being flat etc.

A Creator could have created a single cell that was designed to evolve and continue evolving.

All scientific theories are fact-based. In science, a theory has a lot of evidence to support it and no evidence against it.
