Pets will understand, if you discipline them in the act.
There’s no point in disciplining them after. They won’t understand why their friend is hurting them.
That goes for dogs AND cats.
My cat, being a cat, tried to impose herself, when she was tiny, and also got into all sorts of mischief.
A bit of discipline, and she’s very sweet and obedient now.
Although, I swear to God, sometimes she finds it very funny to provoke me, making sure that I am seeing her as she’s about to do something she shouldn’t, and then running away at the very last moment.
