I was at a company that made our cubicles kind of like that. The wall between one row and the next was down at desk level so I guess you could stare at the person in the row next to you? Fortunately I was allowed to order office supplies and found that a 6 ft whiteboard pretty much replaced the wall perfectly.
It is going to be difficult to get back to talking with your colleagues in reality. Maybe if the managers do RTO but still hold all the meetings on Zoom, it might ease the transition,
