I thought the peak of irony was references to those who tried to violently overthrow the government of the United States as “patriots”.

Of course, there was plenty of contention for that top spot — like worshiping and voting for someone who stole money from children with cancer. Among other disgusting offenses.

    Anything goes in this society!

Don’t like someone, or their opinion, either kill or sue him!

    That’ll fix em!

This is the specific case being commented upon by Lemon, apparently, if you want to seek more details:

    boingboing DOT NET/2024/12/18/

“A Texas federal judge has ruled that conservative activist John Sabal can proceed with most of his defamation lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League. The December 13, 2024 decision from Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth allows key parts of the case to move forward.”

This is hardly the first time the ADL has been sued for defamation, however. I could list several other cases, including cases by Darrell McClanahan and Louis Farrakhan, but that would pile up URL after URL, so just look them up yourself if you are willing to have an open mind.

But that’s not all. In a lengthy, harshly critical article from May 2019 titled “The Anti-Defamation League Is Not What It Seems,” The Boston Review stated, “Under the guise of fighting hate speech, the ADL has a long history of wielding its moral authority to attack Arabs, blacks, and queers.”

In short, Lemon is quite late to the party on this “irony” idea.
