Yeah… encountering students from long ago is disorienting. Teacher hasn’t changed much, but the little brat is now 6’2", tattooed and a mix-martial arts enthusiast. (my experience, yours may vary) … really, the change just from 7th grade to graduation is astonishing.
I remember my first day in second grade, our pretty new teacher was introducing herself to us at circle time when one of the boys declared “I’m in love”

I think I’d ding him for rhyming “ghastly” with “Hatley.” Really? Even for a kid, that’s a reach.
