Back in Red’s day, this would be true, but now, kids got comfort animals, you see, and…

It’s okay, my little darlings! Before long, you’ll both be together again!

Who needs a busload of screaming kids? I’d rather ride with Rover!

Maybe that kindly old man will take over Red’s bus someday…

The one cool thing…with Rover waiting for Red at home, they get to experience what is always going to be a sweet happy reunion every day…and that is one of the bits of magic of having a dog…

In my case it was the neighbour’s elderly lab who, for reasons that escaped everyone, myself included, picked me to be her best bud. No matter how rough my day was, no matter what kind of stress or nonsense, no matter what kind of cloud I had hanging over my head….it all evaporated when I came up the street and saw her lumbering across the yard to wait for me…

All the bus drivers were guys during my school time.
