Yesterday’s newspaper could be plenty valuable to the historian of tomorrow. Yesterday’s Halloween pumpkin could be plenty valuable to a starving vagrant.

Neither one us useless. Newspaper still provides information, or could be used to start a fire, or line a cage or make paper mache An old pumpkin can be food for deer or composted for gardens.
