Charlie Brown is walking along the pathway and he comes across a girl and says, "Ahem! You're new around here, aren't you? <br> <br> Charlie Brown put out his had towards the girl and says, "My name is Charlie Brown.. All my friend refer to me as 'Good Ol' Charlie Brown.." <br> <br> Charlie Brown and the girl are walking along the path and the girl says, "THAT'S WHAT MY FRIENDS CALL ME, TOO.." Charlie Brown looks at her and says "HUH?" <br> <br> They stop and the girl turns to Charlie Brown and say's "GOOD OL" CHARLOTTE BRAUN!" Charlie Brown puts his hands up to his mouth and says, "Oh, No...<br> <br>

This strip introduces a female counterpart to Charlie Brown named Charlotte Braun. The character was best known for her booming voice. (Lucy would later gain this trait.) Charlotte rarely appeared in the strip. I believe she completely dissolved from the cast after a storyline a few months later.
Schulz wrote a response to a letter written by a fan regarding Charlotte Braun. In his response, Schulz confirmed that Charlotte was literally killed off; she was given “the ax”.

Charlotte Braun came and went so quickly she was not only forgotten, seemingly by Schulz as well as readers, but it’s as if she never appeared at all, especially since none of the older book collections featured any strips with her. Who knew?
