I have plenty of DVD’s to make up for that…and the onslaught of reality TV when the cable’s working fine.

We are slaves to the tech world, too. ;)

Or as a pastor I knew put it, we’re only an extension cord away from the Stone Age.

TiggerLeBounce, that’s what I’m suffering now. Hopefully some repair work today will fix that problem.

TV I can (and do) live without, but when the internet is down I feel cut off from the rest of the world.

If the internet is down, too, it’s no wonder you’re drownin’ yer sorrows.

If you are bored when you are by yourself, you must be boring company.

After a breakup with the (then) love of my life – we could be under the same roof for about two weeks max before a hypergolic explosion – I did an experiment, and spent about six months learning to be solo; even kept my hands out of it. Had all kinds of energy to do other things.

I recommend it as a way to learn to enjoy your own company! Sooner, or later, you may need it…

Au contraire, mfcoace: some of the most charming people in company are bored when alone. They’re energized when in the company of people, and they energize the people around them. It’s when they’re alone that they feel drained. (Two exemplars of this are Jungian ENFPs and ENTPs.)
