Enjoyed those sound effects sooo much that my brother & I would repeat them giggling abundantly in the back of our parents station wagon. Made our mom sooo “Mad” that she threatened to stop the car… you know the rest of the story;-)
Unfortunately I don’t have them anymore, but the guy was flushing himself down the toilet (if I remember correctly). Funny how some things stick in your memories.
I’m sure that Jonny Hart would never draw a whale like that, no matter how meanacing the whale was. It’s hard to suspend disbelief when I’ve had decades of experience with a cartoon that heretofore has known exactly where to draw the line between realism and fantasy (which is what makes suspension of disbelief possible in the first place).
That said, this is one of the very few visual gaffes that’s really ruffled my hair under The New Management. And the rest of the strip makes up even for that. Pure fantasy, yet made to look wholly believeable. Cheers!

That’s it all you have to do is adjust the frequency a little bit. Who knows you might just catch a mermaid with the right whistle.

No toothed whale I’ve ever heard of, living or extinct, has teeth like THAT. They’re peglike, not razor-sharp (the better to catch their prey with).
Poor B.C. Yet another reason for me to sympathize with him.

About rakkav’s comment…too much realism people, this is a COMIC strip, lol, not a national geographic documentary…enjoy the suspension of disbelief!
