The USA has become way less “liberal” than it was thirty years ago.And that’s with their definition of “liberal”, which in most parts of the prospering world would be called “conservative”.
And a jab with a pencil is less painful than being stabbed with a knife . . . everything is relative . . . it all depends on how you feel about that industry on a whole.
@Rainfoot … that’s a funny description … even if you got down to the basic definition, a capitalist is very concerned with the community – that’s the customer base he/she gets their profits from. Stupid capitalists don’t care but they go out of business eventually. Socialists don’t care per se … but they need a base of users to remove resources from and spread around … if the base foundation suffers too much, the resources dry up and nobody gets anything. that begets a revolution. per the lowest common denominator.
I used the example I did because I didn’t want to generalize about the entire U.S. right wing. But mainly I commented because, as an American who has lived in other countries, I felt that Ottodesu’s comment was accurate enough to deserve more than derisive laughter.
