The next step, as I created in one of my sci-fi novels, is a “Near Singularity” weapon. It converts a small amount of matter ‘nearly 100%’ to energy and can wipe out an Earth-size planet. Based on the concept of accelerating the matter to the speed of light and projecting it toward the target. In my story, it’s still impossible to accomplish this. But it’s used as a bluff weapon to ‘keep the peace.’
