It was a major news story in the US. As to whether it would have been the subject of a mini-series (and whether Mr. Bono played the part of Opus), that is certainly up for debate.
Bless Opus’s mother! A true war heroine (to be played by Linda Blair, natch)! Little baby Opus is only a bit part, so I’m guessing that Sonny Bono has some bigger rôle, probably Adm. Anaya of the Argentine junta, while Robert Mitchum might have won an Oscar for his portrayal of PM Thatcher….

The comic strip features a talking penguin, and you’re concerned that it’s unbelievable that Americans would know about the Falklands War?

A quick check of IMDB doesn’t reveal any projects Mitchum Blair and Bono all worked on together
At first I thought it was going to be The Winds of War, but no..Maybe someone wants to do a more thorough check

My personal pick for the part of Baby Opus would be Jimmy Durante… Hot cha cha cha!
