According to my Congress man, I get back $2 for every $1 I pay. I take Economics 101 next fall.

Your Congress-creature is probably right, Lewreader. That $1 you pay in taxes returns more than that to you in services that you need but can’t buy for yourself – national defense, public health, homeland security, etc.

If you consider that the government spends a lot more than it takes in from taxpayers like you – deficit spending, right? – the return to you is actually even higher. (Right: I’m a government economist. I don’t know why economics has been called the “dismal science”; I’ve always thought it was fun!)

That dollar you pay in taxes goes to the grat state of Alaska. It also buys the interstate you ride. And you do know, it funds invasions and wars off the books, and when adults take over, they actually acknowledge the expenditures.

Is this cartoon still running? Does anyone know?

All the strips I see are old, like ten years old.

By avoiding both, you have a good chance of free room and board for 20 years or so…
