Laugh, but a work associate who staples pekoe bags to his hat says that there is a movement afoot to eliminate all non-English words from the American daily usage. I will now pause for head shaking and laughter… The sad part? This dude is serious. Boy, the far right wing sure is entertaining. Thanks for the laughs folks and keep ‘em coming! You folks who are conservatives need to reel in the extremists and take back your party from the loonies. Please. I’ll pay you well.

Amen, Lew, I don’t like all this accommodating folks who are too lazy to learn English either, but the point here I’m trying to make (probably didn’t do it too well, I think) is that we are a Germanic based language and have many many Latin and Greek words to boot. This guy wants those words out of “Englilsh” too. That’s waaaay overboard, doncha think? It’s the absurdities I’m pointing at. Besides, that’ll leave us with about 37 words that are genuinely English. I agree with the “Press one for English” point - both of my immigrant grandfathers struggled with this language but became fluent in a short time, mainly because they both needed and wanted to, to become Americans, bless their hearts.

^^^^ No one will eat spaghetti in the US ever again – or sushi, or guacamole. Three of my favorite foods. Or pork, for that matter.

Who wants to ban non-English words in the U.S.?! Is there confusion with France? They have an actual agency that bans non-French words.

Joefish must be believing another made-up thing about Christine O’Donnell.
