Good Morning Dry! Thanks for breakfast.
Dusty is so goofy!
Dry, I agree, people will buy anything, especially those that canāt see the forest for the trees.
Yesterday the virtual food made me so hungry I went to the kitchen and , well, you know. Iām going to have to shop at the Big and Tall shop and Iām not tall. How would I look in a mu-mu?
If you havenāt hears/watched it before, do a search on YouTube for Weird Alās Ebay song. Fits todayās strip perfectly. Iād post a link, but YouTube is blocked from this PC.
Ok, since my doc told me I need to cut back on my salt intake, Iāll have the fruit cup, and two eggs over easy please. I have my own Cokey Cola, thanks.
Good Morning, Terry!DigitalFrog - Thanks for the heads up on the YouTube video. My hubby likes to browse that site frequently. Thankfully, he usually buys things we can use, not a bunch of junk.
How was your weekend Doc? We had a great Sunday. We had a cajun breakfast at Bayou On The Bay and walked in the sunshine along Bellingham Bay. SUNday lived up to itās name. Everybody was out walking or sailing, just having a good day outdoors.
He was really not nice, and some others joined in. When I looked over Joeās comments in Fort Knox, I realized he could really just not know how offensively his comments could be taken.
I didnāt say you did. Itās just that Joe comes from a time when mental illness was something to be ashamed of and was often used to insult people. I think heās so busy defending homosexual prejudice that he doesnāt realize how many of his comments are prejudice against other groups. (women, bisexuals, mentally ill, etc)
What I meant was I checked Dinette Set, Daddyās Home & Dog Eat Doug where he had been most offensive in the strips I read here. I didnāt look anywhere else where Iāve heard there were complaints. But I followed Doctor Toonās lead and flagged him on Pibgorn I believe it was.
So far heās nice todayā¦but the day is still young.
Once upon a time, there was an officer of the Royal Navy named Captain Bravado who showed no fear when facing his enemies. One day, while sailing the Seven Seas, his lookout spotted a pirate ship approaching, and the crew became frantic. Captain Bravado bellowed, āBring me my red shirt!ā
The first mate quickly retrieved the captainās red shirt, and while wearing the brightly colored frock, the Captain led his crew into battle and defeated the mighty pirates.
That evening, all the men sat around on deck recounting the triumph of earlier. One of them asked the Captain, āSir, why did you call for your red shirt before battle?ā
The Captain replied, āIf I were to be wounded in the attack, the shirt would not show my blood. Thus, you men would continue to fight, unafraid.ā
All of the men sat and marveled at the courage of such a manly manās man.
As dawn came the next morning, the lookout spotted not one, not two, but TEN pirate ships approaching. The crew stared in worshipful silence at the Captain and waited for his usual orders.
Captain Bravado gazed with steely eyes upon the vast armada arrayed against his ship, and without fear, turned and calmly shouted, āGet me my brown pants.ā
I donāt read Pluggers usually, but I didnāt flag him over accusing Gweedo of being stupid. I flagged him over the psychological problems. Guess we need more education on future comments.
Driving home with his wife one day, a man was stopped by the police. The cop said, āSir, you were going 60 mph in a 50 mph zone.ā
āNo I wasnāt,ā the man said.
His wife leans over and says, āYes you were, honey.ā
āWhy donāt you shut the hell up?ā he told her.
The cop continues, āYou also didnāt have your seatbelt on, sir.ā
āYes I did,ā the man said.
āNo, honey, no you didnāt,ā his wife chimed in.
āDidnāt I just tell you to shut up?ā the man shouted.
The cop finally leans into the window and says, āMaāam, is this your husband?ā
āHe sure is,ā she replied.
āIs he always this mean and rude with you?ā the cop asked.
The woman smiled at him and said, āNo, officer, only when heās drunk.ā
Wiley is often misunderstood and forced to argue his case, especially where politics is not involved. But then, there are so many who like to bring politics into into anything they see.
Yes, I like it when the cartoonist makes comments on the strip. I think Wiley had fun with that. Some days Wileyās panels are beyond me. I donāt like politics they depress me.
I steer clear of anything that becomes a political debate, even when the strip has nothing to do with Politics. Shoe is probably the most political one that I read. But I could go without posting for days. In Wileyās case, people read politics into his strips whether itās there or not. Usually, itās not - and he will say so.
There are days when Wileyās strips are over my head, but I canāt say his are the only ones. I often donāt get the likes ofRubes, Strange Brew etc.
What I donāt like about most of the panels is that they are hit and miss. Some days you really like them, some days itās like the cartoonist just had to produce something.
A counterfeiter decided that the easiest way to pass off his phony $18 bills would be to unload them in some small rural town, so he drove until he found a tiny town with a single general merchandise store. He entered the store, went up to the counter, and handed one of the bogus bills to the man behind the counter. āCould you change this for me, please?ā
The store clerk looked at the bill for a few seconds then smiled at the man. āOf course I can. Would you prefer two $9 bills or three $6 bills?ā
Well, it seems the cop stopped a car traveling South from Glenfield, East Dakota for only going twenty miles per hour in a 65 zone. The driver explained to the police officer that he had just seen a speed limit sign saying 20.
The cop replied that 20 was the route number, not the speed limit. Then he glanced over at the passengers, who were clutching the dashboard and had their hair pushed straight back from their heads. āWhatās up with them?ā the cop asked.
The driver looked over, chuckled a little sheepishly, and said, āYou know, I think itās because we just turned off route 200ā¦ā
Sunday, we could almost see the sun here. Even today itās pretty overcast. However, starting Friday evening, we had 40+ straight hours of fog.
After pulling a farmer over for speeding, a state trooper started to lecture him about his speed, pompously implying that the farmer didnāt know any better and trying to make him feel as uncomfortable as possible. He finally started writing out the ticket, but had to keep swatting at some flies buzzing around his head. The farmer said, āHaving some problems with circle flies there are ya?ā
The trooper paused to take another swat and said, āWell, yes, if thatās what they are. Iāve never heard of circle flies.ā
The farmer was pleased to enlighten the cop. āCircle flies are common on farms. Theyāre called circle flies because you almost always find them circling the back end of a horse.ā
The trooper continues writing for a moment, then says, āHey, are you trying to call me a horseās behind?ā
āOh no, officer.ā The farmer replies. āI have too much respect for law enforcement and police officers for that.ā
āThatās a good thing,ā the officer says rudely, then goes back to writing the ticket.
After a long pause, the farmer added, āHard to fool them flies, though.ā
I was a tad busy this weekend. Besides the usual schedule, I had an open house Sat afternoon, plus an extra liturgy, a board meeting, and a social supper to get to. Not loads of spare time for computer thingsā¦
Lonewolf, Iām sorry you only have one sibling left, I hope you like her.
Bunnyface - as Doc said, āā¦has a great many very useful tools in his toolbox. Many of them, like bmonk, he uses every day for a wide variety of jobs.ā
Thatās nice! My brothers and I sometimes even have a good time when we are not supposed to, and I Luv being an influence on my nieces and nephews. Are you a Grandpa?
Hello all. I have spent the day outside doing yard work and just got back from a hike. While cutting back last years growth on some decorative grasses, I discovered the new growth was already over two feet high. Last year they didnāt start to grow at all until June. I was able to hike in shorts and a T shirt, terrific for this time of year.
Hey Cleo! How are you buddy? FINALLY started on that pruining, did yaā?
Hey, itās March 1, spring is 3 weeks away, (Beware the Ides of March, though), the birds are singing once again, we turn the clocks ahead in two weeks, (though I loose an hours sleep, sigh) but WHOO HOO!
Hello Terry & Dry. Actually I did the pruning about two weeks ago. Today I did the grasses I mentioned and put lime on the lawn and did some clean up.
I made some baguettes today. So we shall have bruscetta with caramelized onions, kalamata olives, capers and roasted garlic and also some with pancetta, roasted baby artichokes, and feta. I also made a hot crab and shrimp dip with onions and cream cheese. Help yourselves.
Here I have to take advantage of dry days. I spent yesterday playing on a beautiful day. There is supposed to be a little rain over the next few days, so I thought I had better accomplish something. I also dug around our oil tank to find where the oil line was. It had been buried under 20+ years of fir needles. Next week we need to replace the tank, so I figured I better get ready for the replacement. I still have to move a bunch of sawhorses and flower pots that are in the path we will need to make to bring the new tank in. It is right beside a steep bank so we are going to need all the room we can get to take the old tank out and put the new one in.
This week-end I bought my lamb for my Irish Lamb Stew. Last year I waited until the last minute and had some trouble finding it - and exactly what I was looking for.
It is tasty. I use a recipe based on the what was published by the Frugal Gourmet (Jeff Smith) some years ago. His recipe calls for bacon, but use pepper bacon among some minor little differences.
Grog, I was thinking that about George Kennedy too. He looked mean and he was mean. Did you know that the actor who played the bartender played the doctor also?
Strother Martin was a hoot!
I donāt remember ever seeing the Gunfight at the OK Corral.
If anybody cares, and I posted this before, but Grog you donāt know this. I worked with an older gentleman, now deceased, sadly, worked with him everyday for a few years. He was in the service during WW2 in the same unit as Lee Marvin, before he became somebody famous. They were friends in the same unit. He once brought in pictures for us to see when they were in the service together. Dale said he was a very nice person and always had their back.
Yes, Jeff Smith was accused of molesting his apprentices and he lost his show and dropped off the radar until his death. He had a church and counseling office in Pioneer Square in Seattle.
No, Dry I didnāt know that. But then when you think about it not a lot of people were bron famous movie stars. There are a few Natalie Woodās out there for sure, but most are doing what they need to do to survive before they make the big time.
Another period piece that I love is McCabe and Mrs. Miller. It was filmed in Vancouver during the time that I lived there. My uncle who had a beautiful wooden sailboat took Warren Beatty and Julie Christie out on his boat while they were there filming.
cleo, loved both of them. How about She Wore A Yellow Ribbon? I always liked Tall In The Saddle, too. It was the inspiration for the Buddy Holly songThatāll Be The Day.
Poāboys for dinner tonight with homemade coleslaw and I made the buns, so I am looking forward to seeing how they work. The buns will be denser than the ones usually used, so it is and experiment.
You can tell the Olympics is over. On our bike ride today, during our 20 minute ride within sight of I-5, probably over 70 charter buses went by heading south.
Cleo, I like the remake of 3:10 to Yuma too. Enjoy your dinner! My Momās poodle was named after Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke. I literally bumped into the real Miss Kitty (Amanda Blake) in Texas, she was very nice.
BEST POā BOY I EVER HAD. Fresh local oyster, rolls made less than 10 minutes before dinner (hollowed out), my homemade mayo and fresh squeezed lemons. Absolutely awesome. Have I told you all that I love food?
CLEO, YOU AND I ARE FROM THE SAME TREE! AND BTW, THOSE APPETIZERS WERE DELICIOUS! THANK YOU SIR! WHAT A BLAST WE WOULD HAVE AT A GOOD RESTAURANT! SPLITTING OUR PLATES FOR NEW FOOD EXPERIENCES!
Carmy we save the hollowed out bread to use as fresh bread crumbs, which we use all of the time.
Dry that would be fun. I always like trying new restaurants and when they are good, it makes the whole experience so nice. My wife isnāt as jazzed about going out to eat as I am, but I try to drag her out as often as possible.
Cleo, you reminded me of when I was young and we would stop by the panaderia to get some fresh bread to take to my grandmotherās house. I would reach in the bag and grab bread from the inside of the loaf all the way to her house.
I remember once when my mom made fresh bread that was sitting on the cooling rack, I snuck up and took a tiny bite out of the loaf. When my mom saw it she thought a mouse had bitten into it. I told her know, it was me. She was very sweet about it. I have always loved homemade bread. My aunt used to make these rolls that would have us all hovering around the oven. It was so fun as a child, when it seemed that fresh donuts, bread, rolls, flatbread, lefse, cinnamon rolls, creme puffs, etc. were a regular thing.
Unfortunately, and fortunately, I got a phone call which took me away from CSI Miami, so I wil have to watch for the repeat. Should I watch the rest of this one and know how it ends? Decisions, decisions! Yeah, JFri, LYAO!! TURD!
Iām sitting here eating a leftover pork tenderloin with jalapenos and spring onions! And I agree with JFri, sourdough bread filled with the good stuff, YUMMY!
NO FAIR JFRI! You are watching ā24ā arenāt you Turd? Oh yeah, I saw that one! COME BACK HERE, Iāll save you the time and trouble of watching it! ROFLMAO!

Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I have never been pulled over for speeding (although I deserve to often).
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Geesh! Now I am going to have to follow the speed limit because I just Jinxed Myself!
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Bunnyface - Yes that sounds busy. Are you going to have more time to be an influence. Some of us could use it. (Me! Me! Me!) Iāve been trying.
Lonewolf did you disappear again?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
No, Iām still here. I was on the phone with my mother.

Hi Bunnyface(bmonk).

My older children live close also.

Lonewolf, Iām sorry you only have one sibling left, I hope you like her.
Bunnyface - as Doc said, āā¦has a great many very useful tools in his toolbox. Many of them, like bmonk, he uses every day for a wide variety of jobs.ā

Do you get to see them often, or do they come over when their cars need work. (In which case I suggest sabotage.)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Yes I see them all frequently and it doesnāt matter what they come over for. Itās always a good time.

Hello all. I have spent the day outside doing yard work and just got back from a hike. While cutting back last years growth on some decorative grasses, I discovered the new growth was already over two feet high. Last year they didnāt start to grow at all until June. I was able to hike in shorts and a T shirt, terrific for this time of year.

Time for Bookerās and appetizers.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Sounds like you had a great day, Cleo. Our temps are getting up in the 30ās but the sun isnāt showing itself real well the last few days.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago

Hey there, Grog.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Just havinā some supper and watching Emeril right now.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Terry & Dry. Actually I did the pruning about two weeks ago. Today I did the grasses I mentioned and put lime on the lawn and did some clean up.
I made some baguettes today. So we shall have bruscetta with caramelized onions, kalamata olives, capers and roasted garlic and also some with pancetta, roasted baby artichokes, and feta. I also made a hot crab and shrimp dip with onions and cream cheese. Help yourselves.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Grog.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I might do something like that on week-end. Week days I keep it real simple - and quick.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago

Last year I waited until the last minute and had some trouble finding it - and exactly what I was looking for.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Sounds tasty Grog.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I was referring to tonightās menu.
I canāt wait for putting the clocks ahead. A little more daylight when I get home would be nice - especially to get things done.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
WooHoo on the changing of the clocks, Grog!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
It is tasty. I use a recipe based on the what was published by the Frugal Gourmet (Jeff Smith) some years ago. His recipe calls for bacon, but use pepper bacon among some minor little differences.
carmy almost 15 years ago
No No No! I hate to Spring forward with the time.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Grog I have some of his cookbooks too. I actually met him in Seattle years ago. It is a shame he had an evil side to him.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, I saw The Sons of Katie Elder this afternoon. Dennis Hopper was such a wimp.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I hate losing the hour Carmy, but the extra daylight time is well worth it.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello Carmy. How are you doing today?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, how was he evil? Was he a chester or what?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi Cleo, I am doing well, thank you. Iām glad you all are having some nice weather over there.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, I hear you about the extra daylight, but itās always harder for me to adjust to the Spring forward. I can Fall back with no problem.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Perhaps so, Carmy, but George Kennedy was one mean-lookinā S.O.B. I liked the Wayne-Martin chemistry and Earl Holliman was a refreshing new face.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I never knew why he disappeared from PBS, Cleo. It just seemed a rather sudden disappearance at the time.
Carmy, tonight Iām watching Gunfight At the O.K. Corral*
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog and Carmy I loved The Frugal Gourmet, have one of his cookbooks, but I guess he was a pediophile, sad! He died some time ago.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, I was thinking that about George Kennedy too. He looked mean and he was mean. Did you know that the actor who played the bartender played the doctor also? Strother Martin was a hoot! I donāt remember ever seeing the Gunfight at the OK Corral.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
If anybody cares, and I posted this before, but Grog you donāt know this. I worked with an older gentleman, now deceased, sadly, worked with him everyday for a few years. He was in the service during WW2 in the same unit as Lee Marvin, before he became somebody famous. They were friends in the same unit. He once brought in pictures for us to see when they were in the service together. Dale said he was a very nice person and always had their back.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
It stars Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas (as Doc Holliday). A young De Forest Kelly played one of the Earps in a much smaller part.
In all honesty, I much prefer My Darling, Clementine
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hola Dry!I saw Michael Anderson Jr. in the movie too.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Yes, Jeff Smith was accused of molesting his apprentices and he lost his show and dropped off the radar until his death. He had a church and counseling office in Pioneer Square in Seattle.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
No, Dry I didnāt know that. But then when you think about it not a lot of people were bron famous movie stars. There are a few Natalie Woodās out there for sure, but most are doing what they need to do to survive before they make the big time.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, I remember what you said about your friend knowing Lee Marvin. I think Lee Marvin was great. I loved him in Cat Ballou and the Dirty Dozen.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy Oh yes you did! Michael! Have you ever seen āMajor Dundeeā?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I really like My Darling, Clementine. I liked John Ford movies period.

Hello, Carmy, cleo, Grog & Dry!! cleo, I mowed my lawn for the second time yesterday and pulled weeds!!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Stagecoach was one of my favorites.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, Iām going to have to see if they have that movie on Netflix. I would like to see it.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello JFri. Just whose wings did you pull?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
My lawn needs mowing, but the sun isnāt hitting it long enough to make it dry enough so the mower doesnāt clog.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
*I loved āGunfight at the OK Corralā but āTombstoneā with Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer and Sam Elliot was SO MUCH BETTER! I own that one!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
HEY TURD! HOW YAā DOING BUD?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hello, JFri
I like Stagecoach, too, cleo. I donāt have it in my collection (yet), but I do see it every once in a while on AMC on Saturdays.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I preferred the classic. One western I love, with a great ensemble cast is Silverado.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri ROFLMAO! YOU PULLED* WINGS*? :-D :-D :-D
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Another period piece that I love is McCabe and Mrs. Miller. It was filmed in Vancouver during the time that I lived there. My uncle who had a beautiful wooden sailboat took Warren Beatty and Julie Christie out on his boat while they were there filming.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I hate to say it, but I donāt believe Iāve seen it - not even on AMC, and they show a lot of westerns on Saturdays.

Cleo I remember āSilveradoā but havenāt seen it in a long time.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
JFri ah, as in Spring.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
How about Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid? Or Pale Rider?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hola JFri! I really like the spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
JFri, yes those were both good. I also liked Rio Bravo and the Comancheros.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Yeah, I like the John Wayne westerns too.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
cleo, loved both of them. How about She Wore A Yellow Ribbon? I always liked Tall In The Saddle, too. It was the inspiration for the Buddy Holly songThatāll Be The Day.
Dry, whatcha been up toā¦..besides no good? LOL
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Carmy, I really like those spaghetti westerns, too!

Gunsmoke is going to be made into a movie.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I liked the remake of 3:10 to Yuma.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Poāboys for dinner tonight with homemade coleslaw and I made the buns, so I am looking forward to seeing how they work. The buns will be denser than the ones usually used, so it is and experiment.

You can tell the Olympics is over. On our bike ride today, during our 20 minute ride within sight of I-5, probably over 70 charter buses went by heading south.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dinner time.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I like the remake of 3:10 to Yuma too. Enjoy your dinner! My Momās poodle was named after Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke. I literally bumped into the real Miss Kitty (Amanda Blake) in Texas, she was very nice.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Carmy, I will agree, too, that was a good remake! Off to run some errands. BBL

BEST POā BOY I EVER HAD. Fresh local oyster, rolls made less than 10 minutes before dinner (hollowed out), my homemade mayo and fresh squeezed lemons. Absolutely awesome. Have I told you all that I love food?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, youāve told us! What do you do with the leftover bread?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago

carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, your bear wants some of those poā boys!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Carmy we save the hollowed out bread to use as fresh bread crumbs, which we use all of the time.
Dry that would be fun. I always like trying new restaurants and when they are good, it makes the whole experience so nice. My wife isnāt as jazzed about going out to eat as I am, but I try to drag her out as often as possible.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Do you think Dry likes CSI:Miami?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, I think she does. She might like ā24ā also. hee hee!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Maybe just a wee bit Carmy. Just wait until Brett retires from football and decides to be an actor.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Cleo, you reminded me of when I was young and we would stop by the panaderia to get some fresh bread to take to my grandmotherās house. I would reach in the bag and grab bread from the inside of the loaf all the way to her house.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Oh, I donāt know if Brett would be a good actor. Maybe. Iām sure Dry would love that idea.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I remember once when my mom made fresh bread that was sitting on the cooling rack, I snuck up and took a tiny bite out of the loaf. When my mom saw it she thought a mouse had bitten into it. I told her know, it was me. She was very sweet about it. I have always loved homemade bread. My aunt used to make these rolls that would have us all hovering around the oven. It was so fun as a child, when it seemed that fresh donuts, bread, rolls, flatbread, lefse, cinnamon rolls, creme puffs, etc. were a regular thing.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Movie Time. :-)
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Unfortunately, and fortunately, I got a phone call which took me away from CSI Miami, so I wil have to watch for the repeat. Should I watch the rest of this one and know how it ends? Decisions, decisions! Yeah, JFri, LYAO!! TURD!
