Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I’m not holding my breath on that, LuvH8. We encountered more problems today, but the problem appears to reside in Dallas. We seem to encounter new problems with each step in the close.
Hi Lewreader!
Maybe we shouldn’t mention The Nuclear Milkshake Incident either. There’s ice cream in the freezer if you want a Nuclear Float. (Vanilla is the safest.)
LONEWOLF Your breakfast spread looks wonderful, but I’m going to take a chance at the JFRI Cafe this morning.. LUVH8, as for you my lovely lady, I think my mother warned me about you. First its vanilla and the next thing you know, I’ll be seen exiting the store with an armful of Rocky Road.. They’ll find me in the gutter with a broken coffee cup and a melted spoon. Must be mid-life crisis or the fact that my one and only couldn’t brew a pot if she had Juan Valdez beside her. 12 more days till my shrink gets back
Morning TRIBE! What did the doctor mean when he spoke of four point restraints?
Cleo, okay, we’ll leave it at healthy and nekkid.
Grog, I have a really fun day of grocery shopping, eye doctor, oncology and lab appts. I also have a appt. with the washer and dryer for about 3 loads of wash, maybe 4 or 5 actually. I may be forgetting something, I’ll have to consult my memory.
As if there weren’t enough stress right now, yesterday I get a letter from the state. “We do not have any record of your 2007 taxes. Please send new copies of everything or we’ll charge you buncha bux plus interest and penalties (or words to that effect).” Get out my records and wonder how they managed to send me a refund without getting the return.
Now during my week off (17-21) I have to add going to the tax office to make sure I send all they need to the loooong list of other stuff that needs doing. GRRRRR.
Good Morning Saucy! Sorry about the tax troubles. It sounds like they lost your records and therefore want you to send them some copies, lest they have to look for the originals themselves.
Hello everyone it’s Friday and it’s early to say this but I wish all the mom’s on gocomics and at BT a Happy Mother’s Day. Here in KS today is the first of what is called Riverfest with sundown parade and fireworks. Then a week long of activities. Comes right at Mothers Day.
I don’t know if I will be on gocomics Saturday have a fairly big day. Pick up my mom and head to where my sister and brother-in-law live for the towns garage sale day. Who knows may have started yesterday.
I’ll have the cold Pizza for breakfast–it’s Friday, so is there any Veggie Delight or something meatless?–and some Dr. Pepper. No WD-40 for me, thank you very much!
Quiet today. I have made my rhubarb chutney, gone for a bike ride, had some cuddle time with LilG and made my lunch. Next up vacuuming, then making bread, followed by sharpening our knives and hopefully getting outside, to augment our compost. It is a gorgeous day and most of my chores are indoor ones.
Still a bit of our recent overnight “heavy frost” visible, especially on roofs and north of buildings. Luckily, during the day we got rain rather than snow, or it would have been quite a build-up. I think the parked cars had an inch or two on the roofs as it was.
But it did make really good snowballs or snowmen–wet and heavy and nearly melting. I did save a couple catapult loads for you, DocT…
Hmmmmm. I can’t track it down now, but either here, or somewhere else, in the last several days, I mentioned that as programs upgrade, I (and others) tend to be able to do less and less. (If Word upgrades one more time, I will be able to do nothing at all…)
I mentioned that outlining had apparently disappeared, but was likely hidden under something like “progressive alphanumeric bullets”.
Well, last night I discovered where they had hidden outlining. Under “Bullets and numbering.”
I may edit this post when I get back on that computer and can tell exactly the terms they used…
BMonk - I tend to be fairly good with Word and other office programs (including the latest) and I lurk regularly :). Post questions and I will do my best to answer.
It sounds like what you are looking for is under the Home tab (top) and Paragraph Section (3rd over on the home tab) under “Multilevel List” (3rd over top left).
No, mostly I can do what I want–but I was trying to go from a computer using “OpenOffice” to one with Word, and just couldn’t figure out how to get the outline translated. I figured that either (1) people didn’t use outlines anymore, so the feature had been dropped [unlikely], or (2) it was hidden somewhere, using unexpected terminology, which made perfect sense to the design team, but not to the user [me].
Like the time I was looking for a “text box”–and finally discovered they were now “frames”.
Some of you still getting snow and we’re burnin’ up down here…well not burnin’ up, but we’re not far from summer temps with a little less warm front coming through tomorrow.
BMonk - that makes sense. I know a lot of folks resistant to upgrading from Word 2003 to Word 2007 because of the drastic changes in the user interface.
We had no choice in upgrading at the office, so I chose to upgrade at home. But I still don’t like it. This’ll take a long time to get use to. When I do finally get used to it, they’ll make more changes (for the worse) to totally screw us up.
Of course, if you are an editor of a periodical, you are stuck–people will send you articles in a variety of formats, and you need to be able to read and work with them–which means you need to upgrade regularly.
And if you live with a LAN that has an administrator who likes the latest and best…
In the last Windows upgrade, which was not announced, we all lost our old bookmarks and favorite lists. Grrrrrrr! Fsssssssssssst! Khhhhhhhhhh! Mroooooowwwwwwlllll!
@Grog, that was the point: with the turnovers and upgrades coming so quickly, it gets harder and harder to learn where everything is hidden in this version–and then they change it all again for the next.
How many years did we use WordStar without a single major upgrade? Ten? Time to learn all the control-codes anyway.
bmonk, what gets me is that they say that end-product is what we’ve been asking for. I know I never had any input into the upgrades. I just don’t see how it makes me more efficient. And it takes away more viewable document with those big menus on top than the older counterpart.
Bmonk, you could a system restore to a point just before the update, copy all of the bookmarks & favorites, and then do then update again. If you do the restore, it will put the bookmarks back in place.
@Lonewolf, *If* I had system privileges on that LAN. Of course, then I would have been warned about the impending upgrade, and wouldn’t need the restore…
Actually, except for a few bookmarks, I’d already duped most of them elsewhere, so I could recover them, more or less. But still quite inconvenient. All it would take would be a warning of a day or two…
Hi, LuvH8, Grog, Terry, bmonk, Ladywolf, and anyone I missed!
Still doing my comic rounds - with LOTS of interruptions.
bmonk - replied to yours on OBH
Ooops - edited to add: Hi, cleo! (You hadn’t shown up when I started typing.)
There is enough hate in me from the old Schultz days to last a life time. What a cheap shot artist. The guy should have been banned from hockey. What an animal.
I’m back for now, but I’m tired, so probably won’t last long.
Thanks for asking, Terry. We went to a funeral for a 101 year old bachelor this morning. My hubby got the whole day off from work, so I drug him with me to the fabric store, Sam’s & Wal-Mart. I don’t think he minded too much.
This afternoon, between he & our college son, they got through my head the areas I was having problems with in Algebra, so hopefully now that the teacher (sort of) understands the concepts, I’ll be able to explain them our other son.
JOKE in honor of mothers
One day a mother was out and the dad was in charge. The little one was maybe one and a half years old. Someone had given her a little tea set as a gift and it was one of her favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when she brought Daddy a little cup of ‘tea’, which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, Mom came home. Dad made her wait in the living room to watch the toddler bring him a cup of tea, because it was ‘just the cutest thing!’ Mom waited, and sure enough, here comes baby down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up, then says, ‘Did it ever occur to you that the only place that baby can reach to get water is the toilet?’
Terry - Busy, but not TOO busy. We didn’t get as much work done around here as I’d like, but it was nice to have a fairly relaxing day with my hubby, while he wasn’t too worn out (for a change.)
EMET, not all Canucks say eh, A. Ontario not likely, Quebec, less likely, since it’s predominantly French. You may hear more in the Atlantic provinces. When I lived in Alberta, I heard more Hay, than Eh.
~The questions Moms get to answer~
While my son and I were riding in the car one day, he suddenly asked, “Mom, what’s a eunuch?” Caught by surprise, I delicately tried to explain the word “castration,” and I elaborated on the place of the eunuch in early Eastern societies.
After listening intently to my explanation, he turned a puzzled face towards me and said, “Then why, on the TV police shows, do they always say, ‘Attention, all eunuchs’?”
EMET, It may surprise you to hear this but I have heard more Amercans say EH than Canadians, yet we are supposedly known for it, Hay (as the Albertans say, EH)
LuvH8 - Thanks, I’ll go back & fix it. I kept trying to post and it wouldn’t, so I just gave up. Forgot to refresh.
Edit: Well, I thought I would fix it. Now, my filter keeps popping up and preventing me from getting to that page. Did anyone post after me? Or does my filter not like what I wrote?
The problem is, that sometimes I lose my internet connection for a few minutes, and it acts the same way. However, I should have known better, as my other browser windows I had open were working at the same time. Oh, well. At least it is late in the day, so shouldn’t bother as many people.
I’m still trying to get the hang of this iMac my brother left for me….I think he’s a pod person, and if I go to sleep, I’ll wake up with a Stepford grin and buy Apple stuff in the future.
I survived the week. That’s all I can ask for. Hope the week went better for you, Hy..
At least the weather’s been good. You must be getting some major pool time in.
There hasn’t been that kind of talk since the end of Football season, EMET I, for one, don’t care about basketball, which Moore seems to focus on once the Football season is over. He has very little in the way of hockey strips and it’s too early in the Baseball season to be talkin’ pennant race.
Guess we’ll find out if the weatherman’s forecast is correct. If it is, Monday might be a little more excitement than I like.
Headline in the Wichita newspaper:
‘Ominous’ tornado threat for Wichita area Monday
A textbook scenario for a violent weather outbreak is taking shape for Monday afternoon and evening in the eastern half of Kansas – including the Wichita metropolitan area.
You know I’ve been checking out Utube to find some great moments in Hockey, but it’s surprising how little there is from the Seventies, particularly in the way of Habs games.
There’s a certain sense of resignation that comes with living in Tornado Alley, similar, I suppose, to living on a major fault line. One goes about one’s daily activities as though there is no threat, but somehow aware that everything you’ve worked for could be reduced to splinters in a heartbeat.
No fear, Hymenoxis! I insist on having a basement to go to in case of a tornado. We’ve got a nice snug area under the stairs - cement walls on 3 sides. All I need to do is to make sure my essentials are packed up and easy to take down with me. (Laptop, purse, prescriptions, etc.) All vehicles in the garage that will fit, because hail damage is more likely.
It has been a very calm year so far, should have known it wouldn’t last. At least I’ve got a few days to prepare - sometimes I don’t hear until that day that severe weather is predicted.
Well, time to head to bed. Good night, y’all!
Yes, Rmom. Living in Dallas, I do understand the severity, although it seemed that areas north, particularly in Oklahoma, picked up the worst of the damage.
You know, I was just checking out what’s available in Habs videos, and surprisingly there isn’t much. Their 10 greatest games doesn’t match up with the Cowboys 10 grreatest on DVD, though there might be a couple games I’d like to replace with a couple memorable rivalry victories, particularly against the Dedskins. But still the Cowboys DVD is rather solid, while the Habs DVD lacks enough of what made it a dynasty (in my opinion).
L.T. may have been a great linebacker in many people’s minds, but I always liked Singletary better. Aside from being a better F.B. player (without the media attention), I always thought he was of good character, which I could never say of L.T.
LT really never got out of control under Parcels’ influence (that I’ve ever heard of), but since he left the org., L.T. has been in trouble more than once.
I’ve only just heard about it on the news. I do not know much about LT except that he is a hall of famer. It’s awful to hear that someone famous getting into trouble. It seems to happen a lot these days.

COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Good Evening EMET.
Cool on the conversation with Paul Coffey. It’s not a bad thing to look like Brett Favre. Be nice if the money came along with it though! LOL
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
That is so cool DDFENCE EMET.

Hey, EMET and last year before the season even started you loathed the B-man

I’m glad you had a good time DDFENCE EMET. I wish that I could have been there.

There is enough hate in me from the old Schultz days to last a life time. What a cheap shot artist. The guy should have been banned from hockey. What an animal.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I’ll second that, Grog!

Were you at a seminar again today, ♠Lonewolf♠?
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
I Don’t know the player, but I’ll third it, Grog and ♠Lonewolf♠.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Grog - No, I was doing some volunteer work at the VA Hospital.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
Well that’s good to know ♠Lonewolf♠. That makes me proud of you.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
No, not I Ladywolf, the people that are there are the ones who you should be proud of.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Here that bad memory
It starts with Schultz coldcocking John Van Boxmeer. The Habs retaliate against another dirty hockey player, Bobby Clarke, which starts this:

ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
Okay then, I’ll be proud of them.

My thoughts on cheap shot players:
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
I’m back for now, but I’m tired, so probably won’t last long. Thanks for asking, Terry. We went to a funeral for a 101 year old bachelor this morning. My hubby got the whole day off from work, so I drug him with me to the fabric store, Sam’s & Wal-Mart. I don’t think he minded too much. This afternoon, between he & our college son, they got through my head the areas I was having problems with in Algebra, so hopefully now that the teacher (sort of) understands the concepts, I’ll be able to explain them our other son.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Sounds like it was a busy day, Rmom.
I am watching the ‘Hawks game right now.

EMET Do you remember the play that I put a link to? Flyers/Habs
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
And where are all of the jokes, people?!
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
JOKE in honor of mothers One day a mother was out and the dad was in charge.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Terry - Busy, but not TOO busy. We didn’t get as much work done around here as I’d like, but it was nice to have a fairly relaxing day with my hubby, while he wasn’t too worn out (for a change.)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
LOL, good one, Rmom. I’ve heard it before, but it is a classic!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Oh and just where are my manners these days?!
ASmiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
EMET - Should it be
Aor
EH?for Canadians?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
EMET, not all Canucks say eh, A. Ontario not likely, Quebec, less likely, since it’s predominantly French. You may hear more in the Atlantic provinces. When I lived in Alberta, I heard more Hay, than Eh.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
That’s interesting Grog, I always thought it was EH.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
~The questions Moms get to answer~ While my son and I were riding in the car one day, he suddenly asked, “Mom, what’s a eunuch?” Caught by surprise, I delicately tried to explain the word “castration,” and I elaborated on the place of the eunuch in early Eastern societies. After listening intently to my explanation, he turned a puzzled face towards me and said, “Then why, on the TV police shows, do they always say, ‘Attention, all eunuchs’?”
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
EMET, It may surprise you to hear this but I have heard more Amercans say EH than Canadians, yet we are supposedly known for it, Hay (as the Albertans say, EH)
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
EMET - Dual usage. Efficient!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago

LuvH8 - Thanks, I’ll go back & fix it. I kept trying to post and it wouldn’t, so I just gave up. Forgot to refresh. Edit: Well, I thought I would fix it. Now, my filter keeps popping up and preventing me from getting to that page. Did anyone post after me? Or does my filter not like what I wrote?

I’ve been to a couple of hockey games since the Stars came to town, but I can’t call myself a fan, no.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Heheh, of course I had to go check out Lio. Did you fall asleep when you hit the post button, Rmom? ;^)

The problem is, that sometimes I lose my internet connection for a few minutes, and it acts the same way. However, I should have known better, as my other browser windows I had open were working at the same time. Oh, well. At least it is late in the day, so shouldn’t bother as many people.

There hasn’t been that kind of talk since the end of Football season, EMET I, for one, don’t care about basketball, which Moore seems to focus on once the Football season is over. He has very little in the way of hockey strips and it’s too early in the Baseball season to be talkin’ pennant race.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Guess we’ll find out if the weatherman’s forecast is correct. If it is, Monday might be a little more excitement than I like. Headline in the Wichita newspaper: ‘Ominous’ tornado threat for Wichita area Monday A textbook scenario for a violent weather outbreak is taking shape for Monday afternoon and evening in the eastern half of Kansas – including the Wichita metropolitan area.

Um.. The Nuclear Coffee issue? The old one.. Oh, I mean the one a year ago? (tuneless whistling ♫♫♪♫)
hymenoxis almost 15 years ago
There’s a certain sense of resignation that comes with living in Tornado Alley, similar, I suppose, to living on a major fault line. One goes about one’s daily activities as though there is no threat, but somehow aware that everything you’ve worked for could be reduced to splinters in a heartbeat.
(iScrape, iTouch-up)
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Where? What?
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes, Rmom. Living in Dallas, I do understand the severity, although it seemed that areas north, particularly in Oklahoma, picked up the worst of the damage.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
Yeah ♠Lonewolf♠, I guess you can say that I finally have figured out how to post pictures now.

LuvH8 that symbolizes a flower. I’m thinking about my mom right now.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
You know, I was just checking out what’s available in Habs videos, and surprisingly there isn’t much. Their 10 greatest games doesn’t match up with the Cowboys 10 grreatest on DVD, though there might be a couple games I’d like to replace with a couple memorable rivalry victories, particularly against the Dedskins. But still the Cowboys DVD is rather solid, while the Habs DVD lacks enough of what made it a dynasty (in my opinion).
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Oh, you never mention your mom.

COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
LuvH8, I hope you are back at the turnover!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Grog, if he is guilty, I’m really disappointed in that story!!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
L.T. may have been a great linebacker in many people’s minds, but I always liked Singletary better. Aside from being a better F.B. player (without the media attention), I always thought he was of good character, which I could never say of L.T.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
Even though I like the Redwings, I want to see the Sharks win.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LT really never got out of control under Parcels’ influence (that I’ve ever heard of), but since he left the org., L.T. has been in trouble more than once.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I don’t know, Ladywolf. I’d love it if the last 4 teams standing were original six. That would be fantastic in my mind.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
LT has had many personal troubles over the years during his playing days and even more so since his retirement. No comparison with Mike Singletary!
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I know the Sharks will take the series, but I too would like to see all “Original Six” teams in the finals.
ladywolf17 almost 15 years ago
I’ve only just heard about it on the news. I do not know much about LT except that he is a hall of famer. It’s awful to hear that someone famous getting into trouble. It seems to happen a lot these days.
hymenoxis almost 15 years ago

I recently sent my boss to Jason’s.
