Seriously, I would never do anything that might cause an accident to someone on a bicycle. And I won’t pass someone riding a bike unless I would be able to pass a car in the same situation.

Grog ~ snowballs and rocks? I think about paint balls but not on the windows. That way the drivers would be marked so other people would know they were annoying or dangerous. People who drive can be freaking crazy.

Hmmm…. maybe crazy drivers are why bicyclists seem to expect to be passed on blind spots of the road.

Yuck! I’m trying to do this with my bifocals on which is tricky, because I have to look through the bottom part of the lens. Now that the worse part of the storm is hopefully through, hubby has left, son has gone back to his bed in the basement, maybe I can get some more sleep. Poof!

Good morning all I agree with Rmom only our side of town power was off for 1 1/2 hours. Wish I could put my car in garage can’t. The ones who built this place has houses and property to close and garage not big enough.:(

After I called it night yes I was frustrated I looked back you all had a party with icons and looked fun.

Rmom has is the siding going? Where my mom lives they have big yards there is a single retired guy who is building new huge storage shop with small house one bedroom lined up with the shop. He plans to put show cards in it. He is doing some himself but has others helping him. I wish I could give the dimensions. Put it this way anyone remember Tim Tool Man Taylor how big he like things on building, the place this guy is building would be a man’s dream come true. The guy told me it’s smaller then what he had elsewhere.

Not any earth shaking news from this front. Youngest son is finishing up Algebra & Accounting, so we are still doing school. I think we’ll be done around the end of July. Oldest son’s summer “job” is to replace the siding on the west side of the house. Either his dad, or more often myself, will have to work with him most of the time. So, I’m teaching, doing construction, and still unpacking stuff I brought home from Mom’s house. The fun never ends!

Hi, Dawn & Dry! Dawn - With the “black thumb” I have, I’ve come to the conclusion it is cheaper for me to buy fresh produce from the produce stands, than it is for me to attempt gardening. I think to keep deer out of anything, you need to have fencing across the top, as well as around, as they leap over fences with ease around here.

It is windy here, but no tornadoes right here.

I just know that Dry and cleo will post, since I have to leave now. Dawn tell them I waitied, but I’m supposed to be working here.

Did I celebrate my nameday yesterday? Yes–in an extremely low-key, monastic manner: I thought about St. Boniface, I said “Thank you” to umpteen wishes for a happy feast day, and not much else out of the ordinary. But it was still good.

Anyone have a sacred oak tree handy to chop down for a chapel?

Congrats bmonk on your celebration. I don’t have an oak but I have a bunch of grass that needs whacking. I don’t suppose that will do? No, I thought not. It would not stand up well as a chapel. Anybody else want some tall grass? I was going to say anybody want some grass, but thought that might not go over to well with the constables.

We’ve got grass that’s getting taller by the day, maybe by the hour. Hard to keep up when it keeps raining…both because you can’t cut the stuff in the rain, and because the rain makes it grow. And, worse, if it gets warm, the mosquitoes will be out in vast clouds of bothersomeness.

“Vast clouds of bothersomeness”? Just another summer evening on my patio.

bmonk, I do not have to worry about mosquitos, the swallows more than take care of them.

Yes, the swallows, etc, try to keep up–but after a week or so of rain, it’s too hard.

Those are days when we love the wind, so the mosquitoes only have one chance to find you, as they blow downwind…

bmonk, on the lake we have wind almost every day and that is also a good way to keep away mosquitoes. The only time I get bit is when the wind has died and the swallows retired for the night.

Doc, Shika is a rare sight around here lately. But quite a sight she is when around.

bmonk - No sacred oaks here, but if you want to come cut down some Osage Orange trees, come on down! They’re thorny, grow too easily, and pops when burning. However, they are a hardwood.

Been busy–and then busy catching up.

Advice for LuvH8: (Warning: some violence and gore, and not just to a poor bunny) Try this method when you throw a hand grenade. Especially the counting.

Where were you today?

♠Lonewolf♠ I had 2 scheduled Cost Review meetings, but a lot of time was spent on conference calls with our Calvert plant trying to clear up a problem with one of our raw materials. At the end of the day it was determined that the person doing the month-end production screwed up. Took a long time to get there, but we deterimined she used the wrong beginning and ending inventory numbers for a particular material. I knew she did something wrong from the beginning, but it took her forever to realize it - or admit it. She screws up a lot actually. I wonder why she’s still there sometimes.

She has a new boss, too. Part of the problem was he only validated consumption. If it’s ok, he’s happy. He never checked her inventory numbers, as a result the consumption in her spreadsheet didn’t match what was in SAP, which was wrong as a result of her error.

Grog, Mama said there would be days like this! LOL

Sunshine!! we went for a walk to enjoy it. More rain in the forecast but at least, unlike BMonk we don’t have mosquitoes. Must be the nearby salt water, the bats, the wind, the wasps and the swallows.

cleo, I couldn’t find the scene you were referring to. Then again, I can’t zoom on this TV and the dvd is not widescreen. Maybe I missed something earlier on in the film? I thought the scene you referred to was toward the end, though. It’s the only area where I recalled seeing ocean.

Grog it has been years since I have seen Logans Run. It may not be an ambulance, it could be something like a prison vehicle or a transport vehicle of some sort, but it comes around a corner in a city, there is a park like setting on the right with water on the far right.

Dawn, I don’t know if you are familiar with this or not, but Logan’s Run was filmed in Vancouver, BC and the SciFi building that looked so futuristic is Simon-Fraser University. I was living there at the time and happened upon the scene being filmed.

Don’t worry about finding it because it is a flash by sequence and only lasts for a few seconds.

Cleo, I remember some of the hype about it now. I was in Calgary at the time. I doubt if I would be able to find it but if I do, I’ll watch for you.

Maybe it was a scene in the underground city. I thought it was an outdoor shot initially, but I don’t think so now.

I go to bed pretty much the same time every night. So I get a good amount of sleep.

I don’t think that’ll change anything for me, Ladywolf. If I can’t sleep, I can’t sleep. Eventually the lack of sleep will result in a good night or two.

Dawn since then Vancouver has become a big place in the venue for filming movies. When I lived there, not so much. The other big films made during my years in Vancouver were McCabe and Mrs. Miller and Carnal Knowledge and I have vague connections to both. My uncle took both Julie Christie and Warren Beatty out on his sailboat during the filming of McCabe and I also met one of the crew. During the filming of Carnal Knowledge I briefly met Art Garfunkel in a record store in Vancouver.

Yeah! it probably wont. The sandman can be stubborn at times.

Speaking of movies, I am about to watch one, which was filmed in WA. Have a good evening all you fine people.

figures! i finally catch up on all the yapping and everyone packs it in. shouldn’t have let myself get hung up on all the youtube silliness with the links to Smothers Brothers and Monty Python (and the segue into Star Trek clips). oh well. seems i missed out on rare visits from Shika & bmonk too. but at least my annual meeting was not a total disaster. going to take a quick look around, pour myself some of the Cuban rum my brother brought back for me, and see who comes back before turnover. i might even have to provide breakfast!
