LUVH8 Happy Monday Dance??? Where’s my trusty murdering gun?
I jumped out of bed this morning and sang, “Oh boy! It’s Monday! I wonder what’s happening at work? Then I skipped down the lane with a smile on my face and a song in my heart to meet my loving coworkers and understanding supervisors who recognize, acknowledge, and reward my every effort.
Actually, I awoke and decided to spend a few minutes connecting my new printer. This time I did not connect the USB cord before running the software (I can learn after one mistake).Five hours later I’m saying “HUH?” I believe I left a sledgehammer with my murdering gun.
LONEWLF As usual, a wonderful spread. You are to be highly reprimanded again. I’ll have 1-5, please. You’ll find my 32 oz cup for #3 under the sink.
Morning TRIBE! Duck if you see a piece of HP hardware flying out my window.
Ok once again I stop in to say hi and no one is here. You don’t all have to leave when I come. I’ll just help myself to everything for breakfast and a huge, great, extra large chocolate milk. Then I guess I might as well wander off for a nap.
Good morning all. Lonewolf, can I get four fried chickens and a Coke please.
My lying cousins told me that they saw no oil or tar balls on the beaches in Biloxi, MS, Pensacola, FL, and Ft. Walton, FL this weekend. Don’t know why they’d lie to me like that, but they must be lying because the news says the oil spill is covering the entire Gulf Coast.
Morning ALL!
Busy bizzy…..Hope everyone got through the weekend safely….
Good feeling request, please. My son has a growth on his thyroid. The dr and my son don’t seem too too worried, but I’m the Dad. Normally, I wouldn’t ask, but this one hit me hard and the tribe feels like extended family to me.
Needle biopsy on the 9th. I’ll be a basket case until then.
So if I’m not my normal smart@$$ self, please understand.
Good Morning All. Another gray PNW morning. Sheesh, it gets old. And on top of it we watched “State Fair” last night and I have the annoying theme song stuck in my head.
Good morning, tribe!Rac - I’ll pray for your son.
Grog - I agree! I like it when the 4th lands on Sunday, because my hubby usually gets off the Monday. Since the fireworks display are my favorite part of the celebration, it is great to be able to stay up late to watch, and sleep in the next day. We had some great parties in the first few years after we moved here, and our development was new. Lots of neighbors would spend big bucks on their firework purchases, and the trees were smaller, so we could see them easier. Now the new has worn off for us long-time residents, and the trees make it more difficult to get that panoramic view. Still, it beats fighting traffic, crowds, admittance costs, etc., even if I have to select just one show or shift my chair constantly. (We do have one or more swivel chairs in our eclectic deck furnture collection, which makes that easier.)
Doc - Ice cream - yum! I guess I’d better make sure to buy some for this weekend, and figure out what else the family wants to eat. Even if we’re not having company over, we can still have our own private party.
Doc - Are chocolate & vanilla likely to be a problem? I do need to check on my hubby’s supply of low carb butter pecan, but otherwise, we prefer the simple flavors.
Whoever stocks our store shelves, anywhere, in this one store, something runs out, it stays out for a long time, often even if you go to mangement and complain.
Yeah I could use a good ten day stretch. So far this year I’ve only been able to accomplish a 4. The most I usually get is a 7 at any one time. I’ve still got 22 days to take before the end of the year. I may be carrying over a few.
Dry, you and your warm weather. I am packing my towel and toothbrush and heading your way. It is bleak here with yesterday’s high of 61 degrees. That sucks big time.
Anyone else having problems? I refresh, and I’m automatically signed out.
Today may be one of the best days we’ve had in a while. Only 91F expected for the high, mostly sunny, slight breeze.
Doc LOL! Yes, I hear you, sometimes I wonder why some of the things they put on the shelves are even there, and what gets purchased by the consumer runs out and stays out.
Doc - I did watch those - but didn’t have time until yesterday. They were good, I liked them. Just wondering if your tastes extended to something like Pharaoh, everyone has their own preferences.
rac0308 I will be thinking of you. I had problems with my Thyroid. Didn’t have cancer, had exrays and more altra sound done so relaxing almost fell asleep. Took 45 min for this. Dr. convinced I should have been on Thyroid med and never been off when back in my 20’s I’m way over that now been on Thyroid pills for 10 years. I took radiation pills shrunk my Thyroid gland.
We have no A/C here past two days just blows hot air, Home warrenty durn expensive but suppose to fix central A/c.
Where I work at pt a lot of full time will take 2nd off and where off 5th no pay of course. Full time is never going to happen wish I could afford to take educational courses for medical thought about encoding.
Doc - Thanks, I guess too many are being used for juice etc. It makes it hard to put cranberries into bread etc. year around now. I’ll have to try freezing my own at Thanksgiving I guess. LOL
Well time to eat lunch here, change to work clothes, then off.
I thought I would start the 4th early I hope I didn’t hurt no ones ears fireworks are loud. But enjoy.
Hi, Neighbors!Sojo - When next fall rolls around and they’re in the stores again, buy several extra bags to keep in your freezer. I’ve found that a chest freezer is a real money saver in the long run. If I find something that is a “hit or miss” or really good sale item, I stock up and freeze them. Of course, some things don’t do well frozen (lettuce is one I’ve accidently tried) but I freeze breads almost all the time. Living out here, I’ve learned to stock up rather than running to the stores all the time.
Have you looked at Dillon’s Marketplace stores? They carry a lot of items! I’m still learning my way around them, but the Andover one is usually on my way in or out of town.
Kab - Thyroid problems run in my family, too. Both parents and at least one brother. I’ve got to remember to ask my doctor next time I’m in, if he screens me regularly to check for that. Also think I’m likely to get rheumatoid arthritis, as I’ve had bursitis since I was in my 20’s. Dad’s turned into RA, so I won’t be surprised, just wonder if the doc will be on the lookout for it.
This weekend would have been terrible without the a/c! At least today is cooler.
Rmom- I’ve had friends looking at all different stores. A while back one found two off brand frozen cranberries at Dillons - it was probably the last of a special order. I used to see them all the time and my grandmother always made fresh cranberry nut bread when visiting her. I don’t think I have room for a seperate freezer but do have a Food Saver vacuum sealer I could put some into my freezer, I just need to figure out if they need to be blanched first.
Sweet dreams, Doc!
Hope you don’t have one like I had last night. I dreamt I was pregnant with a 3rd child! I’m not really wanting to start over at this point.
Hi, Luv!Grog - We went to Pappas BBQ on the way home Friday. We’re glad I just happened to spot it at the exit we got off looking for lunch. Now my hubby wants to go back!
Luv - It was too quick of a trip to be really enjoyable, but we knew that ahead of time. At least everything went well without problems, which is a lot to be thankful for! If you go to my PB, you can see how Texas prisons handle mowing their grass. Did my heart good to see that the criminals weren’t enjoying a taxpayer paid vacation!
Sometimes the end of the month comes around too quickly, LuvH8 This would be one of those months.
I was just curious, Rmom. You probably had lots of great choices. In the Pasadena area, there are some great choices if you like Mexican and more Mexican or some of the standard fast food fare.
Grog - We both enjoy Mexican, but since we’ve got one here that we go to a couple times a week, steak seemed like a good splurge. Saltgrass was good, but seemed more pricey than Outback, and comparable quality. However, it was nice to go somewhere else for a change. I’m just glad it was good food. When we went out for our 25th anniversary, we went to a steak restaurant that cost about the same as Outback, but the steak was tough & chewy. Yuk!
We were in Houston proper, so Saltgrass worked out just fine. I saw a lot of Pappas restaurants in Houston & Dallas, looks like a pretty successful company. I think their steakhouse is out of my league, but the BBQ was right on target. That is one thing that helps our marriage - we like the same cuisines. He gets the hot sauce and I get the mild, but at least we can enjoy the same restaurants.
Sojo - I wondered if you went to Sam’s. I’ll keep my eye out when I’m shopping (if I remember and not in a hurry) for cranberries for you. My mom liked & made cranberry salad. I’ve never cared for cranberries, but at least they are something I recognize. LOL!
Grog - I did notice those, but neither one of us are seafood lovers. I like fried breaded shrimp, but I don’t love it. I think my hubby is the same way about lobster. So if we eat high-priced seafood, someone else is picking up the tab. Now my hubby does like Cajun, but it is too hot for my enjoyment.
Rmom - I do shop at Sams and Wal-Mart for food (would prefere Dillons but that is where I can get to). They don’t have frozen cranberries there, even at Thanksgiveng! Wal-mart did have fresh cranberries then though and they were cheap.
Hi, EMET!Sojo - I do the majority of my shopping at those two places, too. Since for years I always had my kids in tow (due to homeschooling) when I went shopping, Wal-Mart became very convenient for me. Once they were sufficiently mature, I’d let them go to other departments while I shopped for groceries. The prices are usually less than Dillons, when I’ve done any non-sale price comparisons. I liked Dillons better when they weren’t as “Krogerized”, but they carry some items I can’t get at Wal-Mart. I know a lot of people who like Aldi’s, but I’ve never found enough reasons for our family to shop there. Braums is where I buy all our milk, sausage, some of our ice cream, and various fresh produce if I need some when buying milk.
Rmom - I agree with that. Kroger brands aren’t too good. Checking the ingredients will show that! Almost all meats at Wal-mart are injected up to 11 per cent, even if the lable dosn’t say it! Aldi’s I don’t like out of principle. I don’t know if they have changed now but they used to accept cash only, have *NO* security measures (video cameras etc.) and if robbed the manager would automaticaly be fired because he allowed it, reguardless of his experience, etc.
((((((((((Rac))))))))))))))) Waiting is always the scariest part. You and your son and family have our prayers and a huge deposit in the Tribal Bank for your use.
It is a beautiful day here and I’m enjoying it. Finally NO RAIN and only minimal clouds.
Sojo - That’s why I get almost all of our meat at Stroots Lockers. If I can find a farmer to buy it direct from, then Stroots just handles the processing. But they’ll buy cattle & hogs from farmers, and take a chunk of profit for themselves to sell it to customers. That is really helpful if a person doesn’t want to buy a whole 1/2, but just certain cuts or ground beef. The 2nd seems to get the older cows, but still better quality than what a grocery store sells generally. Of course, you’ve got to go to Mulvane or - I think - Conway Springs.
Hi Rmom, I was thinking of the old wooden elevators that used to be in every town on the prairie. Usually they would have the name of the town on them as well as the company name, such as Wheat Pool. They were usually the tallest buildings in the town and you could see them from quite a way.
Serena - I don’t remember the wooden ones, but there might be some pictures of them in Mom’s albums. The grain elevators are still the tallest building in most of the towns, although a water tower might win out.
My sister found a box that my Mom and Dad filled with old receipts etc dating back to the early 1950s. I was just thinking of some of the things that are gone and making myself kind of sad.
By the way Lonewolf she found a receipt for an oil change and new filter dated 1952 for $3.98. If I bring my van to you when it needs an oil change, will you match that?
Serena - Just a few months ago, I was shredding receipts that were older than me (and I’m 50!) I felt bad about getting rid of them, but I have no desire to live in a museum.
How about burning at the stake? Or what was that thing they did to remove a possession of a person. I am sure my computer is possessed by an evil thingy.
I would think that the Theological repair would help counter the effect of bad parts or otherwise possessed machinery. (However, you may need a certified exorcist in extreme cases…)
Well, I have already had some Nuclear Coffee, I gave a little to the frog so he would have energy to dance. I was planning on getting a refill, I just thought Lonewolf’s wolf might be thirsty also.
At least you are there to comfort him tonight. When I have a really painful or itchy bite it helps to put ice on it. But I seriously doubt Boots would go for that.
Sometimes cats like to go off by themselfs when not feeling well. If Boots wants to be by you it is a good thing your there, that can be a good comfort for both of you!
Good Evening, Everyone!Bmonk, of all the options presented I think I like your last one the best. When in doubt punt. I would get extreme satisfaction watching my computer crash to the pavement & break into tiny pieces from my second story window.
I have been especially good today. I haven’t exploded, burned or broke anything. And no one suffered any injury. Want to roller skate or roller blade. I prefer the skates it is easier on my ankles.
I sure hope that Big Sister or anyone else doesn’t get eaten up by them pesky mosquitoes. They’re huge! I swear they must be a new mutated species of insect.

I used to see them all the time and my grandmother always made fresh cranberry nut bread when visiting her. I don’t think I have room for a seperate freezer but do have a Food Saver vacuum sealer I could put some into my freezer, I just need to figure out if they need to be blanched first.

Hi LuvH8 - will be cutting up a couple of pinapples so might be awhile before checking back.

Sweet dreams, Doc! Hope you don’t have one like I had last night. I dreamt I was pregnant with a 3rd child! I’m not really wanting to start over at this point. Hi, Luv! Grog - We went to Pappas BBQ on the way home Friday.

GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Sometimes the end of the month comes around too quickly, LuvH8 This would be one of those months.
I was just curious, Rmom. You probably had lots of great choices. In the Pasadena area, there are some great choices if you like Mexican and more Mexican or some of the standard fast food fare.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
LuvH8 - I get a couple of pineapples at Sams and cut them up putting them into a food saver container for my lunch smoothe. Here, you can have some!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - I wondered if you went to Sam’s. I’ll keep my eye out when I’m shopping (if I remember and not in a hurry) for cranberries for you. My mom liked & made cranberry salad. I’ve never cared for cranberries, but at least they are something I recognize. LOL!

I like Pappadaux, Rmom, but that’s more of a seafood restaurant and they do some Cajun.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago

A♠Lonewolf♠, now I can party on the 4th without having to worry about what time I have to get up. I just hope it doesn’t get washed out!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, EMET! Sojo - I do the majority of my shopping at those two places, too.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Rmom - I agree with that. Kroger brands aren’t too good. Checking the ingredients will show that! Almost all meats at Wal-mart are injected up to 11 per cent, even if the lable dosn’t say it! Aldi’s I don’t like out of principle. I don’t know if they have changed now but they used to accept cash only, have *NO* security measures (video cameras etc.) and if robbed the manager would automaticaly be fired because he allowed it, reguardless of his experience, etc.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
EMET - No, but got a lot cheese when I was there a few years ago!

It is a beautiful day here and I’m enjoying it. Finally NO RAIN and only minimal clouds.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - That’s why I get almost all of our meat at Stroots Lockers. If I can find a farmer to buy it direct from, then Stroots just handles the processing. But they’ll buy cattle & hogs from farmers, and take a chunk of profit for themselves to sell it to customers. That is really helpful if a person doesn’t want to buy a whole 1/2, but just certain cuts or ground beef. The 2nd seems to get the older cows, but still better quality than what a grocery store sells generally. Of course, you’ve got to go to Mulvane or - I think - Conway Springs.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, Serena! What kind of grain elevators are you interested in? Galvanized metal, or the white concrete tubular kind?
serenasakitty over 14 years ago
Hi Rmom, I was thinking of the old wooden elevators that used to be in every town on the prairie. Usually they would have the name of the town on them as well as the company name, such as Wheat Pool. They were usually the tallest buildings in the town and you could see them from quite a way.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Serena - I don’t remember the wooden ones, but there might be some pictures of them in Mom’s albums. The grain elevators are still the tallest building in most of the towns, although a water tower might win out.
serenasakitty over 14 years ago
My sister found a box that my Mom and Dad filled with old receipts etc dating back to the early 1950s. I was just thinking of some of the things that are gone and making myself kind of sad.
By the way Lonewolf she found a receipt for an oil change and new filter dated 1952 for $3.98. If I bring my van to you when it needs an oil change, will you match that?
#:-)Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Serena - Just a few months ago, I was shredding receipts that were older than me (and I’m 50!) I felt bad about getting rid of them, but I have no desire to live in a museum.

bmonk Hello!
LuvH8 - I didn’t say anything about feeding Nuclear Coffee to the fish (of course if Herman dosn’t survive it let me know - just in case.)
bmonk over 14 years ago
@LuvH8, I find other methods to fix computers preferable, including (but not limited to):
Percussive repair: Giving the box a sharp tap.
Repetitive repair: reboot repeatedly until it works
Theological repair: “Oh, God, let this work!” while rebooting
Scatological or Cursive repair: as above, but while saying “^%#^ it, work!”
Catapult repair (or, better, disposal): throwing it out the window. (aka Defenestration disposal).
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
How about burning at the stake? Or what was that thing they did to remove a possession of a person. I am sure my computer is possessed by an evil thingy.
Bmonk ~ responded at BB.
bmonk over 14 years ago
I would think that the Theological repair would help counter the effect of bad parts or otherwise possessed machinery. (However, you may need a certified exorcist in extreme cases…)
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
I didn’t feed them Nuclear Coffee, I just marinated their blood worms in it. It will be fine.
I wonder if Lonewolf’s wolf is thirsty? Maybe he would like some Nuclear Coffee & milk.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Okay, I will try the theological stuff first. Maybe if I type in various prayers & passages & stuff like that, it will help?

bmonk over 14 years ago
Ah, cleaving repair (ie, with an axe). Then there is bludgeoning repair (with a club or bat), and even ballistic repair (with a firearm).
Edit: Of course, these latter methods, however satisfying they may be, rarely do much to fix the problem…
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Well, I have already had some Nuclear Coffee, I gave a little to the frog so he would have energy to dance. I was planning on getting a refill, I just thought Lonewolf’s wolf might be thirsty also.
