Ladywolf - - Can I please have scrambled eggs with a steak(med rare), some of Johanan’s CocoMocha and a large thermos of Docs World Famous Nuclear Coffee to go?
As a reminder, CocoMocha now has the permanent options of spiking with spirits, seasoning with cinnamon, topping with whipped cream, or combinations of the above.
Ice cream floats are yummy too. Master Starbright suggests using gelato.
Do NOT, however, under ANY circumstances, mix CocoMocha with Nuclear Coffee. There is no such thing as a perfectly contained situation when that happens.

Morning TRIBE! Hope the kids didn’t hear my RagaFragaRickaRacka.
Good morning, tribe! Our internet connection was like a yo-yo last evening before I went to bed - up, down, up, down, up, down, up… It was up when I left it alone to go to bed. I refreshed the pages - aagh - no connection. Thankfully, I decided to reboot the router, and it fixed the problem. However, then I got Opus, so I hope that isn’t a harbinger of what my day will be like.
Hi, Ray! - Yep, those spammers are making my filter block several pages of comments.
H, Serena! - We’re glad to see you whenever you can visit! I had internet connection problems last night. Best way to deal with it that I’ve found, is to do something away from the computer. Played a few rounds of Connect 4 with one of my sons - he wouldn’t stop until he had won more games than me.
Hi, Terry! - That would be irritating! When do you go back?
Ray - And I thought we have a lot of computers! (I think 7 for 4 people - plus one on order. Not counting parts lying around.)
I need to go pick up James from his HS football camp. It just started this week. It’s something else for him to do this summer and it gets him started in his “new” high school. He is excited to say the least. Make his parents happy too!
Good morning all I was hoping this would be my last day for Hand Specialist for my Rt shoulder, been told to limit arm raising, told Dr. my shoulder is feeling better. I will also still limit number of reams of paper for copy machine. Not doing to bad on cut back on pain meds. Am having trouble sleeping though. I am doing this very slowly.
Go back in 5 weeks to Hand Specialist.
Terry - Fun, fun, fun! I go to the neurologist on the 26th. Isn’t it fun to get older?
Kab - Do you go to Dr. Melhorn? He’s treated us every time we’ve needed a hand specialist. (2 for hubby, 1 for me.) I think he’s very good!
Ray, I like HP’s computers, but the Acers are really good for the money. I’ve owned one and had friends with them and have never heard a complaint. I like to build my own custom tower computers, but I have not tried to build a laptop yet. I have done an upgrade to one, though. (not a very extravagant update)
My hubby just ordered a HP notebook (maybe tablet - I’d have to check with the geeks) for our youngest son. My in-laws have purchased a mobile computer for each grandchild when they graduate from high school. It does come in handy for college!
Terry - For glacoma? I’m going in on the 23rd to my optometrist, and will be tested then. At least one of my mom’s siblings have had glacoma, so I’ve been tested for years. I’ve got beginning cataracts, wonder if I’ll develop glacoma, too? And I don’t even qualify for senior citizen discounts yet!
Terry - I have no idea about what brand of processors. We tend to use our laptops (or tablet) more than our desktops. The geek son uses his desktop a fair amount, but my hubby just uses his to have remote viewing, etc. of the trailer. I gave up having a desktop years ago, because I got tired of my geek husband always wanting to tweek it, when I hadn’t asked him to. At least with a laptop, he’s more limited in what he can do, and I can take it with me for its protection, if need be.
Hi, Luv!
My son & hubby like to build computers, but right now, money is preventing my son from doing more of that. I don’t know if my hubby has any ideas toward building another one at this time, he’s plenty busy with work & other things more urgent.
Ray - I didn’t realize that. I know that cataract surgery is quite common in senior adults, but wasn’t aware that anything other than a deteriorating body was to blame.
Interesting blog. However, I think you’re overcomplexifying things (heh, as usual, if I may say so). :))
The Israeli Hebrew word for “hockey” is a simple transliteration [“hoqi (הוקי)”]. There is also an idiom for “ice-hockey” [“hoqi-qarach (הוקי-קרח)”]. The New Bantam-Megiddo Hebrew & English Dictionary informs me of these options.
For you, Shikamoo, and anyone who may have an interest in such things, consider this labor of love, brought to the birth just this morning sans benefit of CocoMocha:
The Chronicles of Johanan Rakkav: The Music of the Bible Revealed: Psalms 96 (YouTube)
P.S. to Idyhwkd: I also answered your query in Bluebirds - with a touch of acerbity (is that a word?) directed at Joe. It’s he who’s confused on the issue raised there, not you.
Just listening to the Capital Steps July 4th show–forgot to record it! :^(
Their motto (one of many) is, “When a scandal happens, rush to our web page, and be the first–to find what it rhymes with!”
But they really are quite good at parodies that work to describe the latest political scandals and such. Such as “When you fill out the Census” or “Bomb, bomb Iraq”, or …
They even managed to rhyme “Buttafucco” back fifteen or so years (mid-90s).
Thanks Johanan - and I read your response on Birdbrains. I kinda knew it wasn’t me that was confused, but was trying not to instigate problems, so was very careful in my wording.
@Johanan, I have noticed that Joe likes to do such things… Especially when he has a firm grasp of facts, but not so good on what they mean. He’s never come out and admitted someone is right that I remember–he just quietly changes the subject, or on rare occasions his position.
On the Capital Steps July 4 program, TSA Secretary is announcing certain changes for anyone who flies:
Because the Times Square bombing suspect was able to board a plane despite being on the “No Fly List”, following the attempted Christmas Day bombing, she announced the following changes,
Because the Christmas Day bomber was seated in seat 19F, that seat will no longer be allowed on any flight.
Because he hid the explosives in his underwear, no underwear will be allowed on any flight.
There will no longer be published flight plans. You board a plane at random, and take your chances.
Every passenger must pass through security scanners naked. The Good news: It counts as a MRI under Obamacare. Bad news: there will be a $15 co-pay…
Ok - I’m craving ICE CREAM so I ran out and got some. There’s something here for everyone, so help yourselves. Also got all the toppings (if I forgot to mention it here, just look around - i’m sure it’s available):
Carmel
Chocolate
Hot Fudge
Butterscotch
Strawberry
Nuts
Whipped Cream
Cherries
Lonewolf - not trying to confuse everyone. I saw someone mention last week changing their name so I figured I would try it out. It was always meant to be Ladyhawk (LDYHWK - no vowels, but had problems with that so added the “D” at the end, my RL initial and became ldyhwkd.)
♠Lonewolf♠ - I had one doctor that would usally reschedule my appt. 2 or 3 times every time. Lately they have been as scheduled. Although that was a hassel it wasn’t as bad as getting there and no doctor!
If Doctors can charge us when we miss or come late to an appointment, can we charge them a fee for being late to see us? (Of course, had they a suitable excuse, such as an emergency or accident they had to attend to, we could waive our late fee.)
bmonk - I read about a case where a lawyer waited a while (at least 2 hours, I forgot how long) to be seen. He sent the doctor a bill for his time and won it in court!
I do wonder though–would a doctor’s note suffice to provide an excuse for the doctor? Or would the emergency room or someone have to validate the delay, as they do with hospital parking garages?
At the VA Hospital I go to, they treat the veterans like kings, but the waiting times are no different than a family doctor. I too, have had appointments where I didn’t get in until an hour later. But I wouldn’t trade the service I get there for anything. It has really changed in the last 10-15 years from what I have heard.
That you was Vos (i.e., plural)–directed towards the whole pack of wolves around here…
BTW, one of our secondary patrons, St. Gall, (we have Swiss roots) is known for taming a wolf, and so is often shown in icons and stained glass windows with a wolf.
I would not recommend sucking eggs. Or at least not cooked eggs. Those could get really deathly if they lodged in your throat, especially the boiled ones.
If I remember correctly you are supposed to blow an egg, and soak in white vinegar for an unknown period of time. When you do that it is supposed to turn rubbery and you can smash the egg and have it go back to its shape. I never tried it and am not even sure I remember correctly.
Maybe you should just ignore the previous paragraph?
I remember finding a rotten egg when I was a child. It was rubbery but after several attempts finally broke it by throwing it against a tree, covering my friend and myself with it. Talk about stink!
LUVH8 “Don’t tell your grandmother how to suck eggs.” Granny taught me though. So many Christmas and Easter eggs wrapped in tissue upstairs. I cringe when someone picks one up to see what is inside as well as out. BUT
We used to poke a hole in both ends of the shell of a raw egg, then you blew through one end to get the egg out the other end. Easier if you took a needle and broke the yolk.
Then when you dye them for easter you can keep them indefinately. My mom still has some we did over 20 years ago.
Ladywolf - glad your here to get be accomplice to Luv tonight. It’s about time for me to head home. Not sure I’ve got time to clean up messes tonight. ;)
Let’s fill some of the eggs with Nuclear Coffee and some of the eggs with Starbright’s Divine CocoMocha (hope I got the name right) and seal the liquids inside.
Then we can play that game where you try to throw and catch eggs without breaking them!
School’s out for the day, so now I can play!
We did the vinegar & egg experiment once. Raw egg, soak it in vinegar for at least a day, maybe a week, I can’t remember. The vinegar dissolves the shell just leaving the membrane with the yolk & white inside. Was pretty rubbery - I think it would have been interesting to drop it from an upper window outside to see what it would have done, but I think I just put it down the garbage disposal.
A week or so ago, somebody put an egg on one of the machines’ engines (at my husband’s job) to cook it. Evidently, they decided to do something else for lunch and forgot it. It wasn’t found for a week or so. Ewww!
LADYWOLF - I was concerned there might be some that might cause unwanted problems, not wanting to have them. However, if you andLuvH8take that another way I guess that’s up to you!
Good Evening, Everyone!
That pesky penguin kept me out of the comics today. I gave up trying to log in after my lunch break. Things were getting even more hectic at the office in the afternoon.
Sorry I missed you ♠Lonewolf♠……and yyyguy last night.
I talked to some professors from the local university, although against the rules, if you soaked a golf ball in liqued nitrogen you could greatly increase their distance. You would have to change to a reguler ball once on the green or you wouldn’t be able to hit it soft enough. Just thinking - if you dipped a pool ball in liqued nitrogen before soaking inDoc’s Nucle … just thinking.
Grog - Especially if you read all the comments! If I’m running really late, I only read the BT comments. Sometimes I read, but resist commenting if it is toward the end of the day, figuring not that many people will read what I write anyway.
And not reading JAD’s comments really cuts down on time spent. There are others I will skim over as well. I normally bypass long-winded comments, but it will depend on the one making the comment.
I’m not sure filling an empty eggshell with Starbright’s Divine CocoMocha would be such a hot idea.
Since one of its ingredients is Thundering Steppes Coffee, you might get some Norrathian guild mad at you, creating an interdimensional incident.
Since said use of said CocoMocha is not part of our contract, you might get Chris Alan Starbright mad at you. The last person who did that tried to hire Galactus, the Fantastic Four, Thor and the Hulk as his bodyguards. When they saw what they were up against, they ran. It took the Q Continuum to finally defuse the situation.
P.S.: I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to publish a real bound novel illustrating what I mean, but if I ever do you’ll be among the first to know… work in progress… :)
Doc - My memory isn’t as good as it used to be, so wasn’t sure if I remembered her name correctly. I agree, it probably was for the best to enjoy it at home. I’m glad you were able to see them from there.
Grog - I didn’t smell anything bad from your direction, but if I did, I’d blame it on that crude oil in the Gulf.
Everyone must be doing supper or other pursuits.
Grog - I noticed the comments July 3 and remembered another film you might like to see if you haven’t. I checked Wikipedia to be sure of my memory. The Magnificent Seven is a 1960 American western film directed by John Sturges about a group of hired gunmen protecting a Mexican village from bandits. It is a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 film, Seven Samurai. Seven Samuyai was originaly exported to the U.S. under the name The Magnificent Seven. Although there are some differences The Magnificent Seven even used some of the same dialogue as the Seven Samuyai (although in a different language). If you liked The Magnificent Seven you mightt try the Seven Samuyai
After seeing a number of Japanese films in my younger days I cringe at the thought of seeing another one, Sojourner, but I am aware of the title and the history.
Perhaps someone knows how to make coffee that is lighter in color than tea when brewed? I know coffee can be made that weak, I just can’t seem to do it.
Grog - Just mentioned it in case you weren’t aware of it. I had watched it because of being interested in martial art films at the time and noticed the simularities
Sojourner, I’m sure there are plenty of movies I don’t know about, particularly if they were made after 1960, but I know a bit more about some of the classics
Good night everyone it’s 10:30 pm here. Rmom I was quickly looking over past comments you must have asked while I went to work this afternoon. To answer you question yest Dr. Mark Melhorn did not only my Rt shoulder and I have to go back in 5 weeks still have to be carefull of reaching, but he also did my hand surgery for corparal(sp) the Dr. is a riot. He is excellent nd doesn’t mess around. He does major surgeries after noon. I didn’t think I had corporal tunel but knew I had never problems. My Rt should started bothering long after my neck healed from Dr. Whitaker. And by the way my hands took a beating when I went back to work the day after all bandaged. One at a time.
Doing okay. Trying to catch up on comments and now having trouble sleeping again. And with meds I take which catches me later I’d zone out.
I notice some where talking about the older the get the better. Not in my case. When I was Ladywolf’s age and younger to maybe 20’s always like riding my bike then with my kids. Now I can’t.
My mom had her cateract’s done soon after we lost my dad in 2000. Only one stitch she is doing real fine. Her sister had it done not so good. My husband mother when she had it done to late in life failure.
As a matter of my mom she doesn’t wear her glasses much.
I have to agree with you, Kab Buch: for some of us, anyway, aging is overrated. When I was in my 20’s I could go up to 10,000 feet and hardly notice the difference. A few years ago (late 40’s), I got seriously winded near Taos at 7,000 feet, and that was sitting still in a van on the road.
I’ll try not to be long winded on my comments. For our family the surrounding areas where cancelled to to rain. The neighbors had theirs so we watched at home. Around 9:30pm started to sprinkle. We have trees around the neighbors but made with the fireworks. My daughter brought out her Golden Retriever closely resembles the icon. I know hurt her ears but other she didn’t seem to mind just wanted to be with family.
Johanan for bike riding I’m just to stiff now and I really miss riding around.
I hope I answered Rmom question about the Dr. Melhorn he is very good and moves very fast.
Where I work at Internet is montered so no fun stuff as Gocomics. Never know when boss pop’s around.
Ladywolf you and others where talking about eggs. Lonewolf that is a very cute picture with the bear and cat. Reminds me of show called Grizzle Adams.
Anyway at a town north of us some teenagers I think 4 of them age around 19 are in serious trouble. They sprayed skunk fumes in the carpets over the weekend. They did get caugth up with now have to pay resitution. It’s almost 11:30 here and I’m not sure if I will be able to sleep and I don’t really want to take anything trying to break off slowly. Unless I have to use Alieve for one pill. I feel my system needs to let me sleep.
Lonewolf sorry, I should know by now you stay with your name sake, but to me it does look like a bear.
Did you also watch a show calle Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman?
Since my mind is sorta blank the man, I can’t think of his name, had a wolf as his co-star.
I guess I’m getting tired but not sure of sleep. Try again. My hubby read in local paper that Roy Rogers museum stuff will be auctioned off including Triger. I can imagine hom Mr. Rogers will be feeling even dead.
Ladywolf sorry for this, there where a lot of great shows back then that pales to newer shows now days. Though for Wed there is one called Middle Family that’s good. Here in KS it’s on ABC now in reruns.
What about Waltons, Little House on Priarie, Mrs. Smith, etc.
My mind is just blank. Maybe there are others I can’t think of. Gunsmoke, Bonza(sp), Big Valley, western types.
I know Ladywolf you have planed breakfast menu for 3rd shift. But I guess I’m gonna try to relax and see if I can sleep.
If someone can tell Rmom I answered her question in case I miss her that would be nice.
Ladywolf your correct. I’m just tired. It’s almost midnight and i’m making too many mistakes typing. Can’t think straight.
So good night. Just think of some shows there where a lot of them better then what is on now.

Rmom cataracts aren’t necessarily age related. I brought a friend of the family to her 2 surgeries. She was 32 at the time.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Ray - I didn’t realize that. I know that cataract surgery is quite common in senior adults, but wasn’t aware that anything other than a deteriorating body was to blame.

She was about 35 years younger than the other patients those days, but the surgeon said that he sees it often enough in younger people.

Such as “When you fill out the Census” or “Bomb, bomb Iraq”, or …
They even managed to rhyme “Buttafucco” back fifteen or so years (mid-90s).
ldyhwkd over 14 years ago
Thanks Johanan - and I read your response on Birdbrains. I kinda knew it wasn’t me that was confused, but was trying not to instigate problems, so was very careful in my wording.

Hello Johanan, Bmonk & ldyhwkd
bmonk over 14 years ago

Good Afternoon ♠Lonewolf♠ - Hope the doctors are there at your next appts.
ldyhwkd over 14 years ago
Lonewolf - not trying to confuse everyone. I saw someone mention last week changing their name so I figured I would try it out. It was always meant to be Ladyhawk (LDYHWK - no vowels, but had problems with that so added the “D” at the end, my RL initial and became ldyhwkd.)
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Thanks Sojo. I hope so too! I would rather they reschedule the appt if one is not going to be there.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I understand Ladyhawk. I just didn’t realize that it was one and the same from the first time I greeted you today. LOL
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Bmonk, (heheheh). I saw that and figured the same, but couldn’t help myself. Then after you moved yours my post looked out of place.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
♠Lonewolf♠ - I had one doctor that would usally reschedule my appt. 2 or 3 times every time. Lately they have been as scheduled. Although that was a hassel it wasn’t as bad as getting there and no doctor!
bmonk over 14 years ago
@♠Lonewolf♠, of course, as long as we keep deleting comments and adding new ones on the theme at the end, the problem is gonna keep on going…

If Doctors can charge us when we miss or come late to an appointment, can we charge them a fee for being late to see us? (Of course, had they a suitable excuse, such as an emergency or accident they had to attend to, we could waive our late fee.)
ldyhwkd over 14 years ago
bmonk - some days I’d like to charge for my time in the waiting room. Like when my appt. was 1.5 hrs. before I finally get called back…
George Arnold over 14 years ago
bmonk - I read about a case where a lawyer waited a while (at least 2 hours, I forgot how long) to be seen. He sent the doctor a bill for his time and won it in court!
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Good afternoon TRIBE.
bmonk over 14 years ago
I do wonder though–would a doctor’s note suffice to provide an excuse for the doctor? Or would the emergency room or someone have to validate the delay, as they do with hospital parking garages?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
At the VA Hospital I go to, they treat the veterans like kings, but the waiting times are no different than a family doctor. I too, have had appointments where I didn’t get in until an hour later. But I wouldn’t trade the service I get there for anything. It has really changed in the last 10-15 years from what I have heard.

I was just referring to the instructions how to order a tee shirt via Amazon…it struck me that they were superfluous, but I left them in anyway…
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Yeah, we did it once in grade school.
I would not recommend sucking eggs. Or at least not cooked eggs. Those could get really deathly if they lodged in your throat, especially the boiled ones.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Interesting - I wonder if you blew an egg and soaked it in Doc’s Nucle … nevermind!

I’m referring to an old saying about “teaching your grandma to suck eggs”–that is, teaching someone something they know how to do better than you do.

Well If my Big Sister gets into trouble, I’ll be there right along side.
Nobody should have to get into trouble alone…..That’s why there is accomplices.
ldyhwkd over 14 years ago
Sojo - ewwww.
We used to poke a hole in both ends of the shell of a raw egg, then you blew through one end to get the egg out the other end. Easier if you took a needle and broke the yolk.
Then when you dye them for easter you can keep them indefinately. My mom still has some we did over 20 years ago.

I talked to some professors from the local university, although against the rules, if you soaked a golf ball in liqued nitrogen you could greatly increase their distance. Just thinking - if you dipped a pool ball in liqued nitrogen before soaking in Doc’s Nucle … just thinking.

Here in KS it’s on ABC now in reruns.
ladywolf17 over 14 years ago
Lonewolf I would love to see that Grizzly Adams show.

Kab Buch I think the actor you were thinking of was Joe Lando, but I’m not sure.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
What about Waltons, Little House on Priarie, Mrs. Smith, etc. My mind is just blank. Maybe there are others I can’t think of. Gunsmoke, Bonza(sp), Big Valley, western types. I know Ladywolf you have planed breakfast menu for 3rd shift. But I guess I’m gonna try to relax and see if I can sleep. If someone can tell Rmom I answered her question in case I miss her that would be nice.
