Iā€™m pretty sure there will be some Human food coming in any time now. I mean a full menu of it.

Meanwhile, I made an emergency call to my boss and he had this sent over:

Weetabix (whole-wheat breakfast ā€œbiscuitsā€ from the UK - they are really good) Organic kefir (plain, vanilla, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, kiwi andā€¦ sweet melissa? Boss, you sure you want to pass around your secret herb from the planet Senkaā€™ur?) Assorted fresh fruit (you name it, we got it) Bagels (ditto) Einstein Bros. Schmears Lox Granola (everything Bear Naked makes)

Eggs should be on the main menu, and sausage. We are short of that at the moment.

Ah, good. The freerange eggs have arrived. So have some other items. Thanks, Boss.

Eggs any style (no pork) 13-minute Ziploc omlettes, any style (no pork) Beef, chicken, turkey and venison sausage Chicken fried steak Chicken fried chicken Fish and lots of it (no catfish)

OJ and a full assortment of other juices A full assortment of wines from Hiloā€™s Pantry A full assortment of beers from Slateā€™s Bar Starbrightā€™s Divine CocoMocha Doc Toonā€™s World Famous Nuclear Coffee

JOHANAN I jumped out of bed and shouted ā€œI wonder whatā€™s for breakfast?ā€ Then I skipped down the hall with a smile on my face and a song in my heart to turn on that soft glowing machine that brings breakfast under the Big Top. I stared in wonder at your menu and thoughtā€™ ā€œI wonder how many faces THOM drew today? Not that your menu doesnā€™t look healthy, but this aging body needs carbohydrates, cholesterol, nitrates, and sugar. The most important part of breakfast is caffeine. Go get DOC TOON ( heā€™s sleeping in the frozen food section) and tell him the TRIBE needs some NUC COFFEE

Morning TRIBE! Iā€™d get up and do it myself except 1) my alarm clock isnā€™t plugged in 2) Iā€™m a poor speller and canā€™t remember if itā€™s 3 or 4 ā€œgā€s in eggs. 3) the bakery is 3 blocks away and my slippers are rather ratty.

Hi, H&J2! Not that I care to live to be 93, but life is a lot more enjoyable for you & those around you if you can look on the bright side. My mom was really great about not complaining when it wouldnā€™t do any good. (She had a series of strokes that continued over 2 1/2 years before she died. Going from driving herself the day before, to being completely bedridden & dependent, she managed to keep a good attitude through it all.)

As she got older her kids had her slow down and quit giving piano lessons. After a short time she resumed giving lessons saying it was important for her to do what she enjoyed and helping others. She couldnā€™t say no and turn a church down that wanted her to play the organ for them so she alternated weeks playing for two churches until she died.

Sojo - I was thankful that my mom would limit her activities herself, so I didnā€™t have to insist. After Dad died, she quit driving after dark, or on Kellogg & the other highways. She went to Africa for a Work & Witness trip when she was 79. I was supportive, but I donā€™t think all of my siblings were. That trip made her realize that she wasnā€™t up to doing what she used to do, so started helping others to go instead. It was only after her stroke that I had to tell her she couldnā€™t drive. She couldnā€™t even drive her walker straight, there was no way she was getting behind the wheel! But as she told my sister, she could drive better than (a certain brother of ours with a really bad driving record). Cracked us up, and we couldnā€™t argue with that! My attitude was as long as she wasnā€™t putting others in danger, Iā€™d let her do what she wanted. (After Dad died, I had power-of-attorney.)

Sojo - She had her stroke in March 2007. As far as I know, she was never notified her KS DL was suspended. In fact, they mailed the renewal paperwork to her before the expiration date on it. Maybe the doctor didnā€™t notify the DMV, since he knew that my sister was living with Mom, and so she was under constant supervision.

Sojo - It probably depends on the situation. Since Mom was bad enough that she needed a helper in addition to the walker to get anywhere in the house, no one was too worried about her being able to get the car out of the garage and on the street. Since she was having trouble reading, we took her to her optometrist for new glasses. He confirmed (in her presence) that she shouldnā€™t be driving, so she didnā€™t keep pressing the issue.

Rmom Your mom was wise and evidently lived a full life as did your mother, Sojo I have a 94 year-old school teacher friend who taught me one year when I was a child who is still tutoring but has given up on doing programs on the Orphan Trains for groups as she said ā€œit started to make her nervousā€ She is fun to visit with, too and helps out the historical society one morning a week. My Mom died of breast cancer when she was 60 but contributed a lot to church and community when she had the chanceā€¦.I repeatā€¦.Life is good for the most part!!

I left 10 hours ago and there is still not a cup of NUC COFFEE on my Red Sox coaster next to my keyboard. I know I may have annoyed a FEW people with my unsuccessful attempt to quit last week, but come on folk. I promise never to go more than 15 minutes without it. Wonder what SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED is going to think about thecoffee break during our bi-annual love making.?

Yes, hope&joy2, Mom lived a full life. I was blessed to have her mentoring during most of my life. I feel sorry for my siblings who took her for granted, and didnā€™t spend much time with her until after her strokes.

Where did all the traffic go, Grog? I didnā€™t think Houston was a big summer vacation destination.

Rmom, a lot of travellers go to Galveston. I got to think that weather in Galveston would be a lot better than Kansas or Chicago in the winter monthsā€¦.unless, of course, you like winter.

As for where the traffic went, who knows, but I will take it and the M.P.G. that goes with it

I know there are KS snowbirds who go to Texas for the winter. But youā€™re right - there are a lot of people who want to go to the beach in the summer.

Rmom, traffic can at times be bumper to bumper heading to Galveston. I went there once mid-day on a Saturday and it was bumper to bumper to the island from the moment I got on the highway. Itā€™s about 35 miles away from where I live and normally takes about 25 minutes to get there. It took me about an hour and half.

Grog, Iā€™m guessing since school has started in a lot of places, the beach-going crowd is much smaller now.

Good everyone. My count time is going. Where Iā€™m at rained missed us big time went further north. When my dad passed I called DMV let them know he wouldnā€™t be renewing they thought I was Lonee or something or making it up. I told him he just spent two months in hospital and passed on at 2am. No he will not renew licenceā€™s.

If anyone seeā€™s this. My dad passed away May of 1999. So only oneā€™s wanted death certificate was banking and Register of Deeds for property as my sister and my mom is very much alive and made her sole owner of homestead where she resides. Her banking with dadā€™s certificate present we made much needed changes there. My dad never went for direct deposit that got change plus sister and I are on momā€™s bank account. Dr.ā€™s office I have us listed there with her full knowledge and signature. B.I.L. called SS former employer to let them know so mom will keep getting her benifits.

I too will not be on long always miss out on fun.:(
