Not sure what Little Sister has, I know what I’ve got since weather here is wanting to change, it’s windy and gonna be a warm day, I know my sinus’s are bothering me, can’t see Dr. not that way yet not sure will get that way just anoying and it’s that time when I get worse.
Everyone enjoy your Labor Day. I guess later going to check out lap top’s computer and software. After 30 years hubby has bonds coming due and we make sure set aside interest for taxes.
I didn’t want to take a lot of room on comments. Big Sister I hope you had a great night sleep since you have trouble with it. I guess if I lived in an apartment, aren’t those places not suppose to carry sound of other delewer”s, didn’t keep you awake. Me I made up on much needed sleep not sure of tonight.
I’ve been running already this morn. Got James to FB practice and now I am headed out for some parts for a car repair and also a part for my weedeater. I think my kid lost the spring from the trimmer line spool. Then again, who knows. LOL
Question for some of you computer experts. Is there a different way one can type comments make fonts bigger without using ctrl key and mouse/scroll arrows to make screen bigger?
Someone on another strip typed in caps, I know that’s a form of yelling, same way if say I use bold letters that’s also a form of shouting but I limited that.
I know some are interested and I won’t say what each chapter is, on current Jr. book on psychology this has on nerves which effects me. I do promise not to talk about text.
Now if I where to say have Algebra I would be asking how that works.
Close with practice. What other symbols can be use? I know about cap 8, I also know F4 repeats, Ctrl x cuts, ctrl c copys, and ctrt v paste, also ctrl p prints, ctrl s saves.
BBS you just like to have fun. You would like what we have seen here. A shopping section we call Towne West has a big parking lot around and by nw area is a simi with a trailer with words called
Terror Fest
not sure if this is part of Halloween or not, since I’m not gonna go see it.
Yea I got that one on word. Too lazy to check. I put it on My Documents. Just hope this hard drive doesn’t crash like work one. Though if i shut down ever day maybe it will quite and I can have a new one without someone higher up getting it.
Then again I want to pass these studies for a different job.
First time for me I had a first job interview over phone for 15 to 20 mins they cut it off as one before ran over:( I doubt if I get it.
That phone interview very legateimate. I applied at at it’s within the dept different localtion and not a scam. They could’ve received hundred’s of application. Also not know if they are looking for degrees.
They just don’t want to bogg down the office.
So I see I also notice one has to allow spacing or see x’s being used.
I thought you might like that BBS though early for Halloween. Not sure if a church is using them for a theme there studing on about evil ways being bad.
About being responsible (hint, hint, It Wasn’t Me): according to Reality Check, I had left my last job due to sickness….
Little SIster, I hope you continue to recover. I hear that hot toddys work wonders: if the heat doesn’t open and drain the sinuses, the brandy makes sure you don’t really care…
Hello Little Sister I don’t know what head colds are like. allergies that turn into infections yes! And right now I’m getting closer to strong allergy. Where I work at boss had something with a low grade fever when he came in after taking time off he still wasn’t feeling great but had urgent matters to take care of.
That’s funny and it happen to me in a different way went to HR got it back now still trying for something else.
Little Sis at least you can rest today.
Thanks, bmonk! Because I’ve noticed a correlation between my filter blocking a page, and a spammer on the same page. I tried to catch up on BT comments this morning from when I signed off last night, and my filter wouldn’t let me see page 4. Being Labor Day, I’m not sure the mods will be working today to delete them, but I can hope.
Kab - I’m sure there are plenty of people here who would be willing to answer your grammar questions for you. I notice, but hate to be nit-picky about it, unless you ask for advice. I don’t have perfect grammar, but I was usually an A student in English.
Hi, Sojo!Grog - I noticed! Some spam gets past my filters, some of it causes the page to get blocked. At least the spam that showed up yesterday must not have had the key words that upset my filter because the quantity of pages blocked wasn’t nearly as bad as one day earlier in the week.
Happy Labor Day to Rmom, Grog, Doc Toon, It Wasn’t Me (really suits you Luv8); Little Sister (Hope you feel better soon);Kab (glad you got some rest); Sojo (yea for your team); bmonk(the intelligent one);Lonewolf,Frankr, and all (Can’t remember who else is signed on…sorry)
Now how do I save greeting groups from one day to the next?
Hopeandjoy2 - F5 or clicking the refresh button with the mouse. The page needs to be refreshed to see new comments. I don’t know if or how it can be done automatically (I have figured out how to automate it but it isn’t least easy and not worth it.)
I have been using wordpad to cut and paste with but have found a utillity for copy and paste that is easy to use but you have to figure it out. It’s for Windows, is free, powerful, easy to use and can create folders to store things like names, url’s, etc and is fast and easy to search for what you want to paste. A lot easier and faster than using wordpad, I am getting it set up so I can forget wordpad for most things. It copies text photos etc. and can hold thousands of pastes if you set the program to. Get it here. Note: right click on an item to bring up a menu of what to do, perhaps due to other utilities I have running I usually need to do 2 fast right cliks or it exits. Double left clicking pastes your item. Cntl-c and ctrl-v work eith it but uses it instead of windows clipboard. Cntl-v continues to paste your last item, etc.
Now how do I save greeting groups from one day to the next?
Two options off the top o’ ma head:
As Grog beat me to it: Cut and paste into Word or some other such program and save.
I just go back to posts up to “about 1 hour ago” and copy, then delete the extra stuff. Not as quick, but it works. Especially since the group changes by the day.
I’ll be off soon to a workshop until Thursday … don’t know when I’ll be able to catch up after that.
Really appreciate the input, Grog, Sojo, bmonk Simple is best for me in the computer world but I keep trying to increase my “vocabulary” through trial and error.
Wow, Sojo, your program for Windows looks good but at the outset it may overwhelm me. I need to study it and see what happens.
Hopeandjoy2 - It does have a limited help file you can get to by right clicking an item. It is easy to figure out but if you have questions just ask. I have found it easier and faster then using wordpad like I have been.
Hopeandjoy2 - You can create groups (folders) within groups. Create a gocomic group, put groups for names, photo url’s etc. in that group. It brings the last used to the top or you can just start to type. i.e. - “l” will bring up any name with “l” in it. Type “la” and you get ladyhawk, ladywolf, etc. even though you have ** in front and behine the name. Just double left click on the name you want and it puts it in. You can still copy and paste like always like it wasn’t there (although it stores all copies so you can re-paste what you want without re-copying). You can use shift and control to select multible items in it (like to delete a lot of copies you don’t want to keep. Select the folder icon in the lower left to show all your groups and double click on the one you want to work out of.
Hi, Wolfie! - I’m popping in & out today. Since hubby had to work, this is just a normal weekday here. Laundry, helping with College Algebra, scanning stuff Mom wrote…
Sojo - Yep, forgot to mention I mended a couple things too. It is nice to finally have time to work on some of the projects that I had to put aside when I was busier.
Sojo - I’ve mowed on those type of days. You know it is windy when you plan the direction you mow based on which direction the wind is blowing, so you don’t get grass clippings in your face.
Sojo - As long as you can keep it out of your mouth & eyes, the rest can wait until you get inside & shower. I thought I’d be mowing more this summer, but I need to leave some work for my son to do, so he can earn some money. I had hoped he’d get a real job, so his earnings didn’t come out of my pocket, but it was better to pay him for mowing than to just give him money.
Hi, Doc & yyyguy!yyyguy - Do you know the current exchange rate between Canadian & U.S. money? I’ve got over $13 in Canadian money sitting here, and I’ve got to find a place to change it into U.S. money.
sorry, Rmom not exactly. i believe the Canuck buck is in the 95 cent range in U$ but can’t be certain. i do know it’s been fairly close to par for some time now.
Wolfie - The compressor seems to have seized up, and now the engine won’t run. It is old enough, that I think my hubby will just disconnect the a/c, rather than buy a new compressor, if that will allow the car to run. Our oldest son drives it most of the time, he can sweat or buy his own car. At least most of the school year, going without a/c isn’t a major problem.
Wolfie - My husband looked at it Saturday afternoon, but he’s still trying to get his Dodge truck up & running. He is looking for another turbocharger for it, and will of course, need to install it once he gets one. I think the truck is his higher priority. The boys can use the Caravan. This is why we five vehicles! LOL!
in Canada, old beetles didn’t come with heaters as standard equipment, though you could buy one as an add on. this goes way back though. by late 60’s heaters were standard. as i said earlier, a flashback to my childhood.
however, i have procrastinated long enough and must get to chores. we’ll see you all soon.
Wolfie - When my hubby’s ready to focus on fixing the VW, if he’s stumped, I’ll let you know. He may already have thought of that, but he didn’t seem to know how he was going to go about getting the a/c out of the loop when he talked about it this weekend. This is the 3rd VW he has had, the 2nd diesel VW (and I remember that one didn’t have working a/c), so he may just need to rack his memory.
Wolfie - At least they are getting some more people (and competent ones!) hired to take some off his workload. You know it was pretty bad when they now have 5 people doing the work he did by himself for awhile. Hopefully he’ll be able to cut back to a 40-50 hour week, and not be so exhausted.
Wolfie - At least you seem to enjoy doing working on cars, and that isn’t something people can cut out of their budgets as easily as some things during a bad economy.
I’m glad I resisted him when he wanted to get rid of the Caravan. I just wasn’t that comfortable with losing it as a backup. The a/c still works on the Caravan, even if the electrical problem keep the radio/stereo from working and sometimes the speedometer & other gauges.
Wolfie - With two new drivers (well, the 17 yr old is still on a learner’s), having some old beaters for them to drive is probably a good idea. We do let the 21 yr old drive the A6 (the only one that doesn’t have a dent, although it has some door dings) once in a while, but he’s a decent driver now. I’m not as comfortable with his driving in a strange big city where he doesn’t know his landmarks, but on familar roads, I can relax when he’s at the wheel.
I think I’m going to start getting ready for bed. I didn’t sleep well last night. I’ve been having problems for several weeks sleeping on Sunday nights, because I took a nap in the afternoon. (Hubby needs his nap, and wants company.)

I’ll be off soon to a workshop until Thursday … don’t know when I’ll be able to catch up after that.
bmonk over 14 years ago
@Sojo, that program looks interesting…
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hi bmonk - I really enjoy it and the more I use it the easier and better it is. It’s like combining clipbord and wordpad only faster and easier.
Have a good workshop!

Thank you much!bmonk over 14 years ago
Thank you, Sojo. I think I will.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hopeandjoy2 - It does have a limited help file you can get to by right clicking an item. It is easy to figure out but if you have questions just ask. I have found it easier and faster then using wordpad like I have been.

The Longest Yard (Original) is on the tube right now.

They cut some scenes…like the one with Bodanski charging charging through, Crew hitting him where it counts and everyone piling on two plays in a row.

Hi, Wolfie! - I’m popping in & out today. Since hubby had to work, this is just a normal weekday here. Laundry, helping with College Algebra, scanning stuff Mom wrote…
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hi ♠Lonewolf♠.
Rmom - Sounds like your keeping busy today!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - Yep, forgot to mention I mended a couple things too. It is nice to finally have time to work on some of the projects that I had to put aside when I was busier.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - I presume you’re staying inside where you won’t blow away? We need to burn our trash again, but today isn’t the day to do it!
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Rmom - I am inside today but yesterday afternoon I mowed the yard, very windy then.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - I’ve mowed on those type of days. You know it is windy when you plan the direction you mow based on which direction the wind is blowing, so you don’t get grass clippings in your face.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Rmom - Unfortunatly I couldn’t control being covered with grass and dirt!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - As long as you can keep it out of your mouth & eyes, the rest can wait until you get inside & shower. I thought I’d be mowing more this summer, but I need to leave some work for my son to do, so he can earn some money. I had hoped he’d get a real job, so his earnings didn’t come out of my pocket, but it was better to pay him for mowing than to just give him money.

Hi, Doc & yyyguy! yyyguy - Do you know the current exchange rate between Canadian & U.S. money? I’ve got over $13 in Canadian money sitting here, and I’ve got to find a place to change it into U.S. money.
yyyguy over 14 years ago
sorry, Rmom not exactly. i believe the Canuck buck is in the 95 cent range in U$ but can’t be certain. i do know it’s been fairly close to par for some time now.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Thanks, yyyguy - At least that gives me some idea. Now to figure out where I can cash it in.

yyyguy - I don’t know if they do in Canada, but here where we get 100+F, it is standard equipment.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Good night, Sojo!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
yyyguy - I think I’ve only ridden once in a VW Beetle. (Back in the early 70’s) This is a diesel Passat.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Rmom, yes it is the same as other vehicles basically. What’s the problem?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Wolfie - The compressor seems to have seized up, and now the engine won’t run. It is old enough, that I think my hubby will just disconnect the a/c, rather than buy a new compressor, if that will allow the car to run. Our oldest son drives it most of the time, he can sweat or buy his own car. At least most of the school year, going without a/c isn’t a major problem.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Wolfie - My husband looked at it Saturday afternoon, but he’s still trying to get his Dodge truck up & running. He is looking for another turbocharger for it, and will of course, need to install it once he gets one. I think the truck is his higher priority. The boys can use the Caravan. This is why we five vehicles! LOL!
yyyguy over 14 years ago
in Canada, old beetles didn’t come with heaters as standard equipment, though you could buy one as an add on. this goes way back though. by late 60’s heaters were standard. as i said earlier, a flashback to my childhood. however, i have procrastinated long enough and must get to chores. we’ll see you all soon.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I know where you are coming from, Rmom. We presently have eight vehicles. We had nine, but I just sold one.
The engine should run fine without the a/c compressor. If it doesn/t something is wrong with the engine.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
See you later, yyyguy! Burrr - I can’t imagine not having a heater in a car in Canada!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Rmom–You may need to put an idler pulley in place of the compressor for proper belt routing. I can explain better in an email.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Take care, Yguy.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Wolfie - When my hubby’s ready to focus on fixing the VW, if he’s stumped, I’ll let you know. He may already have thought of that, but he didn’t seem to know how he was going to go about getting the a/c out of the loop when he talked about it this weekend. This is the 3rd VW he has had, the 2nd diesel VW (and I remember that one didn’t have working a/c), so he may just need to rack his memory.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Sounds good, Rmom.
Today I did strut cartridges & a/c work on a 95 Regal.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Wolfie - At least they are getting some more people (and competent ones!) hired to take some off his workload. You know it was pretty bad when they now have 5 people doing the work he did by himself for awhile. Hopefully he’ll be able to cut back to a 40-50 hour week, and not be so exhausted.
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
I hope so too, Rmom.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Wolfie - At least you seem to enjoy doing working on cars, and that isn’t something people can cut out of their budgets as easily as some things during a bad economy. I’m glad I resisted him when he wanted to get rid of the Caravan. I just wasn’t that comfortable with losing it as a backup. The a/c still works on the Caravan, even if the electrical problem keep the radio/stereo from working and sometimes the speedometer & other gauges.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Wolfie - With two new drivers (well, the 17 yr old is still on a learner’s), having some old beaters for them to drive is probably a good idea. We do let the 21 yr old drive the A6 (the only one that doesn’t have a dent, although it has some door dings) once in a while, but he’s a decent driver now. I’m not as comfortable with his driving in a strange big city where he doesn’t know his landmarks, but on familar roads, I can relax when he’s at the wheel.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
I think I’m going to start getting ready for bed. I didn’t sleep well last night. I’ve been having problems for several weeks sleeping on Sunday nights, because I took a nap in the afternoon. (Hubby needs his nap, and wants company.)
