It wasn’t me - No, I’ve never had greasy gopher gut stew. I’m of the opinion if I can’t identify it, I’m NOT eating it! I might have had it served to me back when I ate the public school lunches, but I’m sure I didn’t eat it. I missed a lot of recesses for turning my nose up at things (I hesitate to call it food) that they insisted on serving me.

Rmom - I’m sure you weren’t alone in that. I know we had something they refered to as stew… could have been greasy gopher gut stew as far as I was concerned.

Ladyhawk - When we moved out in the country, I found that one of the benefits of a smaller school system was that the school lunches were of much higher quality than what was served in Wichita public schools.

Rmom - I don’t doubt that. When I went to school the food wasn’t good, but at least they served balanced meals. Now days, they don’t even fix the plates for the kids, they let them pick what they want. Then they also have a bunch of junk the kids can buy. After about 2 weeks we figured out what was going on and our kids take their lunches now.

I remember how excited I was to get to High School and have a salad bar option.

Ladyhawk - I probably would have carried my lunch more often, but I prefer my food to be served hot, and there weren’t microwaves available back then. I did start carrying more often once I worked at a place where there was a refrigerator & microwave in the break room.

Rmom - I carry mine more now also as I have a way to heat it. The schools (at least for my kids) still don’t have a way for them to heat things up. The middle school at least has hot water so my son sometimes takes cup-o-noodles. Just got a small thermos container and my youngest took spagetti today. We will see how it works out.

Ladyhawk - My kids didn’t have the same problem - we homeschooled them. They love Mom’s cooking!

Wolfie - Back when I had a job where we had to stagger lunch times, I always tried to take the last lunch. It made the afternoon much shorter!

Carbonite is an on-line backup for your personal files. Hard disk crashes, theft, fire, etc. still keeps your data. It works in the background without slowing your computer down and keeps a current record. You have unlimited storage space and is about $50 a year. If I spell it right it’s at www.carbonite.com

oh! I’m sorry, good morning tribeandall!

You can also use it to acsess your files from another computer. If you want to download some of your photos to a realitive’s computer etc. it’s great. It only works with internal drives on your computer, doesn’t backup .exe files and the default limites a file size to 4 gig. but you can change that.

Grog - Looks like you’re under a tornado watch right now. Sojo - We’re in a flood watch, they’re expecting heavy rain for us starting tomorrow afternoon through Thursday.

Rmom, we are on the dirty edge, so we’re not getting as much rain as points west, but I won’t need to run my sprinklers for the next few days at least.

Grog - Guess that means you won’t need a boat to get home?
