Less than 5 hours to kick-off!

Since I couldn’t eat or have coffee since last night (fasting for the blood work) I am now drinking the strongest cup I could whip up in everyday containers. Heck there was a Styrofoam cup near the pot and it melted just from the close proximity!

I always have a Pepsi in my cooler in the car for when I get out of the Doctor’s office in those situations.

I am trying to remember which part of North Dakota he lives in. I think his Church is one of the Saint Mary’s, they just recently celebrated a centenial of consecration (or something). I don’t want to blow up the wrong church.

Little Sis - How hot does it normally get in the summer where you live? It seems a little late in the year, to get those temps. Although, I do remember in 1984, we had 100+ temps in KS the last week of September.

Well, usually in the 90’s for the most part but this year my summer was unusual. We had a lot of cool weather.

Luv - Don’t we usually get ignored when they’re watching a game? I’ve learned that is the worse time to try to have a conversation with a guy.

So, you’re just having a late summer, sounds like.

I am thankful that I married a man who doesn’t care for sports. But I have two brothers who are crazy about football, (real) wrestling, and baseball.

Now if it was rugby and I could watch it …

Sports are okay. I just don’t want to watch that much tv.

It can be a major time waster and the quick scene changes aren’t good for brain connections.

OK, Little Sister? I thought you were a big Hockey fan.

I watch a lot of movie & TV show tapes & DVD’s. Other than football and TCM, I don’t really watch a lot of TV and nothing in the way of network prime-time except for football.

I didn’t mind going to an exciting game in person (as long as the weather wasn’t too bad), but I couldn’t care less about watching one on TV.

Old movies especially don’t have rapid scene changes. Commercials are the worst offenders. Changes less then 6 seconds prevent the brain from developing long time attention span.

I used to like to go to games, Rmom, but it’s far too expensive these days. I much prefer seeing the game from the comfort of my home. And with Sunday Ticket, I can see the game(s) I want to see.

I prefer older shows and recording when I can so I can bypass commercials.

Just saw on news 113° also occured in L.A. and set a high record!

Another reason why I don’t watch network television: too many commercials. It makes it difficult to get into the show.

TCM, at least, has no commericals during its movies.

Attention Span! I used to have one of those.

♠Lonewolf♠, you can’t be too happy with the end of that last series.

I liked TCM when I had it but now I don’t. :-(

I have no problem with attention span.

LuvH8 - I also had one of … aaa … never mind.

Grog - I hadn’t even thought about how much the tickets have probably gone up! I think the last time I went to a football game (OU) it cost me about $12. I haven’t been to a game (unless you count robotics) since I got married.

Kids with ADHD often improve by just stopping TV watching.

Rmom, I was actually thinking of meeting a friend from home in Chicago. I looked up ticket prices online to see the Cubs play. I was shocked to say the least.

Grog - I think that’s one reason I’d rather go to a college game, than a pro game. They don’t have to have the ticket prices high enough to cover player salaries.

Luv - I have AAADD. Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. I didn’t have near the difficulty with getting distracted when I was younger, as I do now. The other night I had forgotten that I had decided what to have for supper and had put it in the oven, so I started trying to come up with an idea for my supper, until I went back in the kitchen and saw it in the oven!

The other QB is cramping and you call a time-out?

You mean it will get worse!!!!!

Actually, St. Mel was a nephew of St. Patrick…Mel means “Honey” in Latin(?)–as in mellifluous. Feast day Feb 6th, IIRC.

West Dakota is the region West of the Missouri in the Dakotas. Perhaps plus some of the NW of the territory, around Minot and WiIliston. The two states are more evenly divided culturally if they had been split into East and West Dakota than North and South…East is more farmers, West is ranchers and oil and tourism (badlands, Black hills).

I laughed (Out Loud, natch) when I saw it. It’s got something to be desired as a likeness, but it is funny. I had wondered what he might do with my handle.

West Dakota is a small town that you will not find on any map.

They have a chapter there that offers first aid and CPR training.

I don’t know–Sturgis and Rapid City are both in West Dakota. And the northern parts of West Dakota include the Bakken Formation, one of the biggest recent oil discoveries.
