We are currently rewatching Nashville, another ensemble cast and I love the “Big Chill”. Another movie with a great cast that not everyone likes, but I do is “Silverado!”
Oh Fellow Baby you do have the best collections! I thought John Wayne WAS in Silverado!
Tell me, what do you think of Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World? That’s one I don’t think we ever discussed, and one I never tire of. Same as Kelly’s Heroes and WKRP and the Dirty Dozen.
Fellow Baby, Silverado was made in ‘85. I may be mistaken, but I think John Wayne’s last movie was The Shootist with Lauren Bacall, Jimmy Stewart and Ron Howard.
As for It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad Mad World, I don’t think I’ve seen it. It’s funny because I’ve had opportunities to see it but didn’t want to because I thought it starred Woody Allen - who I can’t stand. But I will give it a chance now that I’ve seen the cast on IMDB. Some of my favorite comedians are assembled in that one.
Fellow Baby you are correct on John Wayne’s last movie. I found that movie so sad, because it was prophetic. I think he knew when he made it that he was dying. That movie was so sad to me!
I agree about Woody Allen. YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE MAD ….WORLD! It is ABSOLUTELY the BEST comedy I HAVE EVER SEEN! It even is funnier than “Planes Trains and Automobiles” and that and most John Candy movies rank number 1 in my book for comedies!
Yes, I have but it has been awhile for Stripes, loved the Blues Brothers! Have you seen Summer Vacation or the Great Outdoors? Dan Ackroyd was in the Great Outdoors. The scene with the bear near the end of the movie was absolutely hilarious! I sure miss John Candy! He was the best in MHO!
I’ve seen Summer Vacation - but not The Great Outdoors. I have Bill Murray’s Meatball’s & Stripes. He also had a lesser role in Caddy Shack with Chase & Dangerfield - but no less funny. One of my favorites.
Mad, mad…World is on WPBS (Detroit PBS – don’t know why it’s on the Vancouver lineup) right now! Personally I’ve always preferred “The Russians are coming…”
I wondered what you were replying to Fellow Baby went all the way to the top to find JP Steve’s comment! LOL! Should have known they were out of sync again!
Don’t worry Fellow Baby I think you will LAUGH YOUR A@@ OFF at Mad World. How can you not? The ensemble cast is one of the best ever put together!
JP Steve Yes, The Russians, , , , is another GREAT ensemble cast and a GREAT movie I never tire of either!
I wonder if they are putting something in the water around this gocomics “watering hole”? Seems like there is a lot of that going on around “these here parts” of late! :-D

And, of course, I nibbled back, Fellow Baby! Do you think Thor would be so smart?
GROG Premium Member almost 14 years ago
Fellow Baby, The Dirty Dozen…. 8:30PM CT Saturday…. TCM… Be there…. Shaving implements not required.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 14 years ago
Shaving implements?
And no, I don’t think Thor would be so smart. That’s why I tried to give him a hint, ROFL!
Thanks for the heads up!

“Mad, etc. World” is a classic.

cleo I don’t think I ever saw Nashville, and I think I saw the Big Chill, but don’t remember the details. Was it a mystery?
Fellow Baby would know! He is the resident movie expert!

I haven’t seen Nashville, but I have seen The Big Chill. Rather depressing really. Not a mystery, but seemingly an idea for the *30-something series.
I lost interest in westerns after John Wayne stopped making them, so I haven’t seen Silverado either.

I’ve got got a good double feature that I’m going to be watching from my own personal Hitchock collection Sunday night: Rear Window & Rebecca.

Have you seen Stripes, Fellow Baby? Candy had a small role in that and also The Blues Brothers - which had a great cast of actors and music icons.

Also good, JP Steve, but I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve actually seen It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Too good of a cast to ignore.

Yeah, Fellow Baby, I was replying to JP Steve, and my comment appeared on top - which made me look psychic. So I deleted it and started over.

Agreed, Fellow Baby!
It’s been a great day, but a very hectic week and it’s time to call it a night and get caught up on one of my other favorite things.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 14 years ago
Fellow Baby I’m assuming you mean sleep, so I will see you in the ‘morrow! Have a good rest!
