Keep doing what you’ve been doing with the asterisks before and after a word or clause. It doesn’t work with just one. I think you may have misunderstood the explanation. The “8” that IMudd had in his post was, I think, actually meant to be a bone. BUT, sometimes, when you see an 8, it just means that the person missed hitting the shift key to get the asterisk, in other words a typo like: 8puppybreath8 or something similar. As far as I know, there is no way to get bold or italic fonts with only the necessary symbols on one side of the word/phrase. They have to be on both sides, like you’ve been doing. And, a regular 8 means nothing but the actual numerical value, infinity (if you can manage to get it on its side — good luck with that), and sometimes, even a bone!
I hope I’ve clarified…and not confused you further! Hugs to you!
“My intent was to make a bone like symbol.” - which, by the way was clever! I never would have thought to use the “8” like that, and I did recognize what you did immediately. I don’t have much imagination to use the characters on the keyboard like that. Well done.
good morning everyone.Happy, happy, happy!!!fame Mell? at this point in my life my greatest desire is only what i can describe as active leisure. i would love to be a professional tourist…(dream on.)
i saw what you were trying to do.i just happened to have cold fried chicken for lunch and the “8” looked like the end of a chicken bone to me. first i tried “8-8” and that didn’t look right. so i went to “8=8”. a little fine tuning…8==8
Here’s a quick refresher in text formattingNote that all the tags are used in pairs (except <hr> ). HTML tags are enclosed in angled brackets with an opening tag <tag> and closing tag </tag>. Shortcut keys use the same character to open and close. Popular font tags:
Attribute (HTML tag, Shortcut key)
Bold (b, *)What you type: This is *Bold text* What we see: This is Bold textWhat you type: Howdy <b>S</b>tel<b>B</b>el What we see: Howdy StelBel
Italic (I, _)What you type: _Howdy_ What we see: Howdy
A note about shortcut keys (*, _, -, +,^ ,~). They only work with whole words or phrases. So to emphasize character(s) within a word you must the HTML tag. (see Bold examples above)
Horizontal Rule (hr)What you type: <hr>Blank line (p)What you type: Witty comment <p>*Good morning*What we see: Witty comment
Good Morning
Here are some addition font codes;
Subscript (sub, ~)What you type: H2SO4What we see: H2SO4
Superscript (sup, ^)What you type: C3IWhat we see: C3I
Insert (ins, +)What you type: This why we <ins>love</ins> fall What we see: This why we love fall
Delete (del, – )What you type: This why we -hate- love fall What we see: This why we hate love fall
Small Text (small)What you type: Hey, <small>Let's see some small text</small>What we see: Hey, Let’s see some small text
Big Text (big)What you type: Another <big>big</big> idea What we see: Another big idea
Tags can be combined for more effects. What you type: *<big>S</big>tel<big>B</big>el*What we see: StelBel
i think so bu I believe you have to use a < / followed by H 2 > but I don’t think anything else is in the same font as the red so maybe not. I admit, I’ve never experimented with that.
