Nighthawks, did you pose for this rendition by Stel? Or did she do it from her memory of you as a green, drawn-faced, grouchy type?

Remember, don’t look behind the curtain. That means you. Toto!

@StillTheBelle – Where did you find that great, unretouched photo of @Nighthawks?

(it’s easy to see why he’s so camera shy)

    Howdy folks….

    I had to have a little nap…. um… sort of…. but here I am….

welcoming you all (some of you belatedly) to the hidden (but not purposely) spot where we’re talking about

the Nov 27th  2018 “CLEO and COMPANY”

which can be found on Sherpa

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

I remember this…. it was Montana Lady who suggested that Nighthawks would turn out to be the Wizard…….

or maybe that the Wizard would turn out to look like Nighthawks.

Whichever…. the idea sent StelBel off, traipsing down the Yellow Brick Road… her inner wheels spinning….

till she had combined many of her previous Wizard of Bassetland posters with a lovely portrait of Nighthawks, to create this masterpiece.

Speaking of wheels spinning … aaah… another convenient segue….

All of Neal’s little wheels are spinning on the outside….

    in full view of passersby.

Inside? I think not much goes on.

Before I sign off for some much-needed sleep….

Last night I read in two places that I get the big bucks for my comments here, and maybe even on other strips.

So I would like to know, after all my hours of wrangling recalcitrant words into post-able shape, bending them into questionable humor…..

    Who is collecting my paycheck?

Cos if I find out some alt-Susan is vacationing in Paris on my dime, while I have to buy second-hand cheese and stale potato chips….

    I’ll … I’ll…. cry, that’s what I’ll do.

    Sniffle….

Now wait. If that’s NightHawks as the wizard (unproven), then who (or what) is perched atop the huge wizard frame? Could it be that StelBel has a much lower estimation of him and depicted him as he truly is?

I still get a huge CHUCKLE out of this poster, Stel. This is soooooo cool. Nighthawks will always be our Supreme Commander!

(I still love the way there is a slit in Dorothy’s dress to accommodate her tail)
