That explains that ugly hairy couple I saw yesterday. And I guess I can’t be to upset now, because he called her a bitch.

Is that a wild animal? Or is that a Ballard Street dog?

And what’s stranger still about Cleo and Billy is that Cleo knew from Jump Street that was no cup of sugar. She sniffed the cup. It’s a cup of freeze-dried white lightning he’s looking for.

Hi everybody….. and thanks for the concern…. even, as Dennis puts it, the “rude” comments….

only, they’re NOT rude, they’re funny.

    MargueriteM, above, knew well…

not quite 10 years ago, she and I posted every day on the Dinette Set…. and if one of us didn’t…. whoa.

Jail, illness, picking up sailors…. no holds barred.

Anyway, thanks for posting the link, Dennis.

And Nighthawks for posting that I was OK.

Sorry, everybody, I’m still going to be a bit erratic for a while…

I’m OK, but there’s stuff to deal with… I’ll be able to explain in due time.

I miss being here… I’ll stop by as I can.

Meanwhile… my internet memory is older than Clara’s.

Using the library computer THIRTY years ago…. with a text browser called LynxII (get the pun?) ….. before there were any pictures.

In fact, at first there were no hyperlinks, cos the internet had been invented but not the world wide web….

the library could connect to internal servers and bring up articles…. also find and reserve books for you.

Then suddenly, there were hyperlinks…. but all text…. and when a bit later, there were pictures, Lynx II couldn’t show them, so sometimes you saw a page that just had the words “image” and “Link” scattered about…..

And then came Alta Vista and a couple of other search engines…. and suddenly you could look for stuff…. as long as it was text.

I bought a Commodore computer in 1986, but it had no modem.

Finally, in 1994, I got a 386 IBM compatible computer with a modem and Internet Explorer, and eventually I was off to the races, so to speak.

    Sigh….

Meanwhile, Dennis and Liverlips … I vote “dog”.

Probably Archie, who is a dog and a wild animal, in his way.

Mr. Van A’s raccoons are dark and furry:

Wow, strange times indeed!!! we the people, were really very smart all those years ago, we managed to get to different places, all over the world without Sat Nav, we managed to stay in hotels & eat out with Cash, kept in touch with home without a phone, nowadays my granddaughter can’t drive to end of the road without her navigation turned on!!!

I have an old Apple computer with Applesoft integer on it that my dad gave to me. Can’t believe how much those things cost on E-bay. I guess Cleo took the day off because it’s Summer Day. Either that, or she’s teasing that cat up the street.

Had work email long before the internet. Pretty sure that’s all I can say.

Can you imagine today’s Cleo & Co on dial-up?

OMG! Nighthawks got all the screeches down pat! I can hear them now! Very enjoyable, NH and Stel!

I might complain about these kids and others with their cell phones, but I love how technology has made our lives great!

Back in the late ’60s my dad worked on computers at the nearby Air Force base. One time he took me to work with him and I saw that they were more than twice the size of a refrigerator.

Spent 2+ years in rural Sudan in the late 70s. Never made a phone call. I wrote letters! Took notes by hand! Nowadays an anthropologist probably takes a sat phone and computer to the field.

I’m continually amazed at the life you’ve led, Den.

you seemed to have ‘made something of yourself’, as my father used to say
