Like Tad1, Cleo is just observing nature. I can understand that. What shocks me is that after all this work Nighthawks has refrained from adding a punchline! Well done, Nighthawks, the comic speaks for itself.

Inching along like that takes a lot of core strength or you can hurt yourself. That’s why I don’t try it…just in case.

I’m sure you can slther with the best of them, Cleo.

She’ll never stop string you along so you may as well sing “I’m Your Puppet.”

That worm’s name is New-Sherpa-Date. Just crawls along and only changes one number every year.

Love the animation in this one.

You probably know that animations “flip through” a stack of almost-but-not-quite duplicate images, called layers,

each one showing things in slightly different positions.

As we view the shifting layers, we “see” motion.

More intermediate positions equals smoother motion.

As an animator, you have to choose..

try to fit an action packed 3 hour movie, with intricate backgrounds, into one animation….

…. which is great too….

or… have space for more detailed animation of one little inchworm and a pair of doggie eyes.

Dennis… don’t you call Cleo’s words a punchline?

I feel like she’s making a joke, whether she means to or not.

And while I have your attention…. who is Tad1?

Arlene, Arlene. You don’t need strings.. you need the right attitude.

A more subtle and invisible power.

Gosh… I was staring at that worm….. gliding ever so smoothly along,

so smoothly, it lured me to slumber.

And when I opened my eyes…. oh my!

For a moment I thought I fell asleep in front of the TV… in 1968.

So now I’m groggy. Not Grog. That’s somebody else.

But logy dozy, only half awake. …. all the things you probably think I am most of the time anyway….

So I think I’ll be inching my way to bed…

OMG! I haven’t seen one of those test patterns in a kazillion years! (Didn’t think I was that old, did you?)

But, I am glad that Cleo thinks she can do that.

Still a little windy, but Dorian has mostly cleared out. At my house, power stayed on and nothing worse than a few dead branches out of the dogwood and my tomatoes blew over. Picked up the dead wood (now I don’t have to trim it) and was able to sit the tomato cages back up so all is well. Walked around the block with Moxie and nothing major I could see, but didn’t go anywhere else. My biggest problem was she wanted to sit outside in the storm and I had a terrible time getting her in out of the rain and when I did she was a soggy doggy. Ended up with about 2.5" of rain in my guage.

In the larger picture, the areas that always flood with storms (tidal stuff) flooded as usual, but I’ve been through much worse. Gloria back in the 80s ripped the awning off the house and Isabelle back in ‘03 (I think) had the power out for a full week. It was much worse in North Carolina where some folks who didn’t evacuate some of the barrier islands are stranded. Overall, it could have been way worse since the storm was moving faster through here than through the Bahamas and didn’t have the worst at high tide.
